It is not the fact God is outside ourselves that is important, but that we carry our faith in God inside ourselves. Moreover, one can depend upon God for only that which was promised (and eternal salvation should be enough to satisfy anyone) - those who depend upon God for material advantage will be disappointed.

“Lord won't you buy me, a color TV
Dialing for dollars, is trying to find me
I wait for delivery
each day until 3
So Lord, won't you buy me, a color TV.”

Material ADVANTAGE, yes. I agree. Faith in God is not about gathering wealth in this lifetime.

On the other hand, God is there to help with our physical needs, too. (The operative word is "help".) The key is, God comes FIRST, and we work to lay up our treasure in Heaven, not here on earth.

Jesus said in Luke 12:

" 29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. "

Said Paul, in Phillipians 4:19: " But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

FRegards
