Tinseltown's public-service push
NY Post ^ | October 21, 2009 | Michelle Malkin

HOLLYWOOD hearts Obama. Obama hearts government-directed national service. That is why you won't be able to change the TV channel all week without getting lectured about the need to get off the couch and Do Something. Creeped out? You should be.

The entertainment industry, inspired by Obama's $6 billion expansion of government-volunteerism spending, is coordinating plot lines and ads to push public service. "The message will be nearly ubiquitous," reports the Los Angeles Times, "starting in the morning with programs such as 'Today' and 'The View,' and then echoed on soap operas, prime-time series and late-night shows." First lady Michelle Obama, a relentless AmeriCorps promoter who publicly extolled the Tinseltown initiative last month, will cap off the week with an appearance on "The Jay Leno Show" on Friday.

The only thing I still look at in the local paper is the comics, and two of them had awkward “volunteerism” references yesterday. Put me right on edge, it did.

Right wingers are busy people. They have families, jobs, activities, church events, etc.. If Oboma thinks he can get the do nothing by choice democrat base off it's butt to actually work for free, he's more insane than I thought. They won't even work for pay!
So, who are these hollywood jesters targeting? The right is too productive already, and the tax payer dependents are too lazy. Who's left? Aren't they wasting their time?

THe whole thing is such a pile of Bovine Scat. Americans have always been the most generous folks with their time and money that any other people in the history of the WORLD. Yet these libtards want to pretend there is something "self centered" about Americans that needs fixing.

Well, from their perspective, actually there is. When one breaks it down to see just WHICH Americans give, it ain't them. Still, for them to suggest that Americans don't give is ridiculous, but it sreves their purpose becasue what they want is for Americans to give to Zero. Pretty sad when you get right down to it.

As long as some of us have "ears to hear" and "eyes to see" the libtards will not accomplish their purposes but it gets pretty "interesting" to see just how close they are coming to destroying our country.

This administration is treating all Americans like "I need government help to wipe my butt" democrat voters. Millions of normal Americans are getting pretty offended by it.

The only available group that I can think of is young kids red-hot out of college who can’t find jobs.

Maybe the idea is to get them to “volunteer” in lefty non-profits for indoctrination purposes.

Maybe they’re looking at tax returns from their own cultural and political class which almost invariably display a stinginess toward charitable giving.

Libs DO need to get off their dead asses and do something decent and give more money to legit causes. But let them handle that among themselves and not go around suggesting that the rest of us are lazy tightwads.

(WORST DRESSED) First lady Michelle Obama, a relentless AmeriCorps promoter
who publicly extolled the Tinseltown initiative last month, will cap
off the week with an appearance on "The Jay Leno Show" on Friday.

Thanks Mr. Leno.
For confirming my conviction of watching ONLY 15 MINUTES of
your "entertainment" show per week.

Yeah, it's the approx. 9:45-10PM CST Monday segment of "Headlines".

I do admit the "relentless" term for the Obamas is well deserved.
They are certainly determined termites when it comes to the
timbers of American stability and strength.

Tinsel town’s idea of giving is to star (with lotsa perks) in a fund raiser to talk us, the productive, into giving.

"First lady Michelle Obama, a relentless AmeriCorps promoter who publicly extolled the Tinseltown initiative last month..."

I wonder if she also promotes corrupt sycophant and Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson's misuse of Americorps funds. Her husband's action of canning people that dare raise a question about it (possibly at her behest) might indicate it.

Just ask former Americorps inspector general Gerald Walpin.

Oboma is a community organizer, nothing more. Affirmative action gave him the presidency, but he has no idea how to govern. He's doing what he knows. He's trying to community organize the country, but unlike inner city Chicago, not everyone is a willing servant. Most people are telling him to screw off. His base is waiting for everyone else to do the volunteer work for them.
He's getting no where with this. Oboma is a joke, but the damage he's doing because of his incompetence is not a laughing matter.

No question...those two already have streets named after them: “One Way.”

Question them and you’ll take a “one way” trip out the door as well—Walpin style.

This whole ‘volunteering’ idea is becoming anathema to many because it has been shoved in our faces by academia and like-minded people as “the way to be.” People volunteer of their own free will, not because they are told they must if they want to be virtuous (like driving a Prius).

Plus the rank hipocrisy of being told to do it by the libtards, who are always among the least volunteerism-inclined in society.

Volunteering OPM is their specialty.

We have many shows recorded on the DVR (none are network) for times like this. No current shows will be viewed or recorded.

You hit the nail on the head. These filthy rich celebs should be more active in the community and donate their time AND money as well. Don’t tell me what I should do!
