The dog usually sleeps in the hallway at night, sometimes in my office. Both locations could be in my line of fire from the bedroom, depending on circumstances.

We usually sleep with the BR door closed, as does my daughter, whose BR is next to my office at the opposite end of the hallway from our BR.

Those issues are what caused me to delay several months making this decision, worrying they could be in my LoF. (I’m assuming in the heat of the moment I might not hit center of mass, and some pellets could travel down the hallway.)

I have a similar situation: my daughter's room is directly across the front porch from the front door -- and in direct line with my bedroom door. My top two rounds are #7-1/2 bird shot to limit penetration of her wall.

Believe me, a face full of birdshot at close range will leave any invader out of action -- as far as remaining a deadly threat.

Remember, if we are finally forced to that "gravest extreme" of using potentially-deadly force, our purpose must be to neutralize a deadly threat -- nothing more, nothing less. That, as a Christian, I could live with -- but I pray that I never have to use that training...
