That steel gets pretty damn cold at -30, don't it?
Of course most machinery also hates that end of the temperature range. I gotta admit I'm generally operating the wood stove pretty heavily when it gets like that.

To the Freepers who didn’t go to survival school:
Cotton kills. Don’t wear cotton since it absorbs moisture.
It doesn’t have to be freezing in order to freeze to death.
Build the fire before you get cold.
Layer your clothing. You can always take it off before you perspire.
Carry a good cigarette lighter.
Throw an extra blanket or sleeping bag in your car.
Always dress for the weather even if you’re driving to the corner store.
Don’t skimp on the cost of gloves or footwear.
Always cover your head in cold weather.
Recognize the signs of hypothermia.
Wear your shelter.
