WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sarah Palin will sit down with Oprah Winfrey the day before her new memoir hits bookstores, Harpo announced Tuesday.

The former Alaska governor will make the appearance on Oprah on November 16 to talk about her highly anticipated tell-all, "Going Rogue: An American Life."

Palin has never before appeared on the popular daytime talk show. Last December, Winfrey said she had invited her on the show to discuss the election, but suggested at the time that Palin had instead chose other interviewers

"Don’t do it Sarah. Snub the Oprah."

Oprah's show is exactly where Sarah needs to appear. How else is she going to reach voters who otherwise would not see her? You don't think the average Oprah watchers are FoxNews hounds, do you? I know only a few regular watchers of Oprah, and they probabably would never see a conservative politician unless that politician appeared on one of these shows.

Sarah doing the Glenn Beck show is preaching to the choir. Sarah doing the Oprah show is introducing Sarah to some who have only seen her as the subject of an SNL skit.

If we turn back the clock to the ‘08 election campaign, we’ll recall that Sarah’s wildly high favorables (following her RNC speech) tanked hard after the Couric and Gibson debacles. The interviews were edited to make her look like a simpleton, which was widely reported. If you don’t remember that...

You can look it up, or you can watch John Ziegler’s “Media Malpractice” documentary.

Oprah may not be a hardball interviewer, but she is a rabidly partisan dim whose early endorsement of Obama raised him from long-shot to viable candidate.

One has to remember that Obama just dragged Oprah along to Copenhagen for the Olympics fiasco

I heard she’s not polling very well against Huckster or Romney....this might be why she’s lowering herself like this.

I didn’t weigh in on the earlier thread, but I think this is a good thing.

First of all, I know everyone hates Oprah right now for stooging for Obama. But in point of fact she is not nearly as much of a left winger as most of the other folks on TV. In fact, she tends to be fairly traditional. I think she went for Obama simply because he’s black, and she couldn’t resist it.

Second, as long as it’s live, the studiobots can’t edit it and make Sarah look bad, the way they did last year.

Third, I think Sarah is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. If Oprah attacks her, which I’m far from certain she will do, all the better.

My impression of Oprah (I’ve never actually watched her show, but have read various summaries and takes on her) is that she is actually a fairly decent person, more traditional morality than politically correct nonsense, but not all that bright. She’s more of a breakfast club, fashionable, bestseller type than a vicious leftist like most of the talking heads on TV. They are evil; she’s just nice but dumb. And plenty of nice but dumb people got taken in by Obama. That’s my impression.

YES, she most certainly did. Why is it now convenient? Oprah Winfrey works for Zer0, period end of story.

“You don’t think the average Oprah watchers are FoxNews hounds, do you? “

Oprah’s ratings have shrunk. She needs Sarah more than Sarah needs her. Who cares about Oprah’s viewers?

Oprah insulted her by not having her on during the election when Sarah needed her. Sarah should return that snub now that she is wanted. Taking Oprah down a notch would be a good thing.

“Liberals watch Oprah, and they tend to dislike Palin. Palin’s got nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain.”

So the upside is Sarah will convert these liberals, and GAIN voters? (not likely)

And she won’t LOSE by giving a chance for the media-political-opposition to capture a videotaped gaff? (likely)

I feel opposite you: she has little to gain, and a lot to lose.

I said I thought Gibson looked like a pompous ass. If you thought Sarah looked like an imbecile at the end of those interviews maybe it’s what you wanted to see.

Either way, this seems a done deal. So, we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.

I love Sarah Palin. I just don’t think there is any upside to her giving access to the SRM. And politics is all about percentages.

Gibson was despicable in that interview, and after chumming around with her beforehand, too. bastid.

I’ll never forget the look in Sarah’s eye the moment she recognized that he had turned on her during the interview, and that his earlier friendliness was phony bovine excrement.
