Florida Authorities Search for Girl, 7, Who Vanished After School [Pic in URL]
Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Florida officials have expanded their search for a missing 7-year-old girl who vanished while walking home from school Monday afternoon.
Somer Thompson was last seen about 2:45 p.m. while walking home from Grove Park Elementary school in Grove Park, northern Florida. She was with her twin brother, 10-year-old sister and friends and reportedly ran ahead of them after getting into a fight. When her brother and sister returned home, they said she was not there.
When Somer did not return home, her mother and her mother's boyfriend searched up and down the block. Somer's mother reported her daughter missing two and half hours later to a police officer.

He was convicted within the last few years. The charges go back about 9 years. I suspect kids (his) were involved because the charges are so old but I have no idea. He could have agreed to the charges to stay out of prison.
If he agreed to false charges to avoid prison, he is an idiot but I would feel better about him.
I wonder if you expanded your ‘ring’ to include the same number of people, if the number of sexual preverts (sick, sic) would be about the same?
Most states have a sex-offender registry that should be free to access. I just searched for "Sex offender registry New Mexico" after a few things happened near us.
Perhaps, but I think there is a difference in the area you are in too.
I know there are rapists and perverts everywhere of course, but social and economic factors, race, and cultural differences must play a big part of the density of them imho.
Do a search for your state and sexual offenders. Here’s a few for Florida:

http://publicrecords.onlinesearches.com/Florida-Sex-Offender.htm
http://www.spotcrime.com - general crimes for larger cities and universities
Does that search tell you what specifically their crime was?
Thanks someone sent me the FL link. There are only 2 within a mile of me.
Thanks someone sent it to me for my state.
Thanks for the info.
One of the nice things about living in the country... This is the Sheriffs registry, a different one than I looked at before, seems there are some closer than I thought.
Stranger abductions of children are no more common today than they were 50 years ago--about 100 a year nationally.
The paranoia that parents feel that their child might be the 0.0001% to fall victim has led to an overprotection of children, making them fat (because they can't be allowed to walk anywhere) and dependent (because they can't be allowed to do anything independently).
Ironically, far more children die in car accidents than from being abducted. So much for protecting them by insisting on driving them everywhere.
Depends on the locale.
Mine allows you to drill down and get photos and convictions.
Continued prayers. Just heard the mom’s anguish in the news report. OMG
I’ve got a registered sex offender living in my home.
Yes indeed, my son mooned a neighbor when he was 14 and now has to register for 15 years. There was a guy near here who has to register because he got caught urinating in a trash can in a park, in the early morning hours. That was just a couple of weeks ago. I’m sure no man on FR has ever taken a whiz where he wasn’t supposed to.
The numbers and registry don’t mean much unless you know exactly what the offense was.
