The special election to fill New York's vacant 23rd congressional seat is perhaps the earliest test of the GOP's chances to reclaim the House in 2010. Yet the GOP candidate, Dede Scozzafava, has struggled to line up Republican support, and has taken a pummeling from conservative groups that assert she's liberal. The Club for Growth and Eagle Forum, among others, support her opponent, Doug Hoffman, who's running on the Conservative Party ticket.
Add North Texas' Dick Armey to the list of conservative stars backing Hoffman. The former House Majority Leader has confirmed to the Hoffman campaign that he'll spend Thursday with them, said Rob Ryan, a Hoffman spokesman. "He is with us almost all day Thursday," Ryan told me. "There will be a bunch of different events." Armey's endorsement of Hoffman is personal and wasn't offered on behalf of FreedomWorks, the conservative foundation he chairs.

Perhaps the republican party should learn from their mistakes for a change, then.
“Keep this third party stuff up and obama will win in 2012”
You never learn do you? There is not difference between a liberal Republican and a liberal democrat. But the liberal Republican destroys Republican party.
It is just too bad that the conservatives did not take this stand back in the 1999 era. We would have been in power today if we had. It is going to be so much harder to undo the damage now. And it will take longer to undo if we ever can do it in time. Before we loose our country.
If the republicans keep losing then they will smarten up and run conservative candidates. Until then they can loose. It is there choice.
to tell you honestly, you too are right. We all in one hell of a rut on this. Repub aint hittin on all cylinders either.
I just scared of 3rd partys, I remember Ross Perot.
As always, I hope I'm wrong about all this. But I think and fear not.
Having voted for Ross Perot, I agree. Wer are not ready for 3rd party. It will bring us down. but we do need someone that is electable with conservative views. God Help Us.
Hannity just had a segment with series regular and alleged ‘conservative’ Newt Gingrich. Did the topic of Newt’s endorsement of the RINO in the New York come up? Yeah, right.
The GOP had best put the Rinos to bed if they want to win in 2012. No more of this McCain and Romney socialist nonsense.
You win the “Tagline of the month!” award!
Why are they so afraid of being labeled racist? The only people who will think the Republicans are racist for coming down on ACORN are those who already think they are racist and have never voted and will never vote for them.
If these candidates would get smart and post paypal links, I’d give to lots more. Went to Hoffman’s cite...no paypal. I won’t do it with a credit card.
Hank
Ross Perot.
I don’t recall Ross Perot renegging on “Read My Lips.”
Bush lost that election, period.

Then so be it. These “moderate” Republicans will only go along with the Obama agenda anyways. Let these bills pass with the Democrats name on them so they take fail when this country fails.
I will not vote for a “moderate” Republicans like McCain, Graham, Snowe, Collins, Castle, etc. I will always write in a Conservative candidates name when a RINO is on the ballot.
Way to go Dick Armey! Stick to your principals.
Normally, I'd agree, because usually when the holier-than-thous here on FR start stomping their little feet and pointing fingers at somebody being a "RINO", that person isn't actually a RINO, but is a conservative who's maybe not as conservative as the FReeper average, but is still with us at least 80% of the time, and the diaper brigade just wants something to whine about.
In this case, however, the choice is extremely clear - Hoffman is the one to support, hands down. Scozzafava really IS a RINO, or worse. AFAIAC, Scozzafava is taking votes away from Hoffman and endangering his election, not the other way around.
He said “little fart from Dallas.” You said you thought HW was from Houston. (He is.) Ross Perot is from Dallas.
Third party efforts have almost always caused the election of the opponent to whichever party from which the candidate split. Pretty much a kamikaze effort that allows simpletons some pleasure during a campaign.
That’s nice. Too bad Armey didn’t have enough spine while in the House.
