THE REAL HILLARY CLINTON: Episode #2 - Children in the Hospital

NOTE: the survival of our Republic is threatened by two things -- fundamentalist Islamic terrorists and Hillary Rodham Clinton. President Bush is leading the fight against the terrorists. It is up to those of us who know the real Hillary Clinton to lead the fight against her. We must shine the light of truth on this dangerous woman so that all Americans may know the real Hillary.

#2 in a series.

(Story originally appreared in the American Spectator, March 97)

It seems that Hillary, who's had her fingerprints found on all the new scandals that are breaking on a daily basis is trying to fix her public image.

So, to promote the new effort, showing how deeply Hillary cares about children, especially sick children in hospitals, Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington got a call. Hillary Clinton would be coming over soon with children's author Maurice Sendak. Hillary's advance team would be showing up arranging the security and logistics. The team did show up. What they saw horrified them.

The kids in the hospital children's ward really looked sick! Some of them had tubes sticking out. Some had lost their hair to chemotherapy. Some were groggy because of the pain killers they had to take.

Hospital officials were quickly told this would not do. Hillary would look bad in a newspaper photo if she posed with sickly looking children. They were told. "No children that look drowsy, skip bald kids, sick looking kids, or kids with tubes sticking out."

So here's what the hospital actually did. They outfitted a hospital conference room with toys and kids decorations. They ordered hospital staff members to bring in their healthy children who would pose as sick children in photos with the great St. Hillary.

So, on January 10th, Hillary Clinton showed up to Georgetown University Medical Center and read to a bunch of kids with author Maurice Sendak. Had you read the papers or heard the news the next day, you might have been bowled over by her compassion. Actually she demonstrated the opposite. You see the real sick kids, who were originally told they would be visited by the first lady were originally extremely happy and excited at the prospect of her visit.

When they were later told, they were too sick looking to be with the great Hillary, some became deeply depressed. After all how would anyone feel not being good enough for Ms. compassion herself.

Of course the press published the photos of Hillary reading to the cute kids the next day. They just forgot to tell you that Hillary, in the quest of the perfect photo could not bring herself to be photographed with an actual sick child.

The phony mask of compassion that Hillary hides behind has slipped once again. Just around Purim time too!

Michael Medved, one of the most moderate people within our movement, was quite animated and adamant on his show last Friday.

Do not...DO NOT...DO NOT!!! take children to see this movie!
I figure it must be REALLY awful to get such a rise out of him.

I'll skip it too.

But, I think that it looks like it stinks.

Why trash an excellent childhood memory? Besides, how can a scriptwriter get 90 minutes out of a 15-page children's book, especially when 1/2 the pages don't even have dialog?

I’ve a friend who took her 11 and 15 yr olds and the kids were horrified (younger) and depressed. She said the theater was full of upset little kids who screamed when one monster ripped apart the other. Oh by the way, it is PG-13...really

Good question!

It stank on ice.
It went from a child’s fantasy to some sort of crap about a child rationalizing and trying to come to terms with a divorce.

I figure they could have done a Disney type musical and pulled it off, but, while the movie was very “artistic,” the plot was dreadful and depressing.

Some from my Kiwanis club read to the kindergarteners about 5 times a month. Last Friday, what did the teacher give me to read? Yep, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE.

yep. What little I've read about it says that it was very dark and heavy.

Not at all like the book (one of WBill Jr's current fav's).

Heck, the only thing that the book seems to have in common with the movies is the title, and a character or two. Book had a perfect ending - upbeat, and it showed that even if Max disagreed with his Mom, she still loved him (and he, her). The Movie.....not so much.

About the only thing that would make this flick more-Hollywoodized, and less likable, is if Max landed in the land of the Wild Things and was immediately set upon and messily devoured. Mom could get addicted to Prozac and have a lesbian affair with her therapist, and Dad....as in the book....would stay completely offscreen.

Well, I wish I had heard Medved. My 18 year old wanted to see it this weekend, thinking it would be a warm memory from her childhood.

WRONG.

The screenplay depicts a "spirited child" (what used to be called a "spoiled brat" way back when the majority of parents actually disciplined their children and taught them that there are, indeed, some boundaries to behavior). You can go to any Walmart and see out-of-control, self-absorbed, hateful and rebellious kids and clueless parents trying to "reason" with them.

As for the screenplay, my daughter concluded that they were "trying to be artsy." Unless you like post-modern pablum and failed attempts at sentimentality, don't waste your money or your time.

Took my 3 kids to see it. Huge mistake. I didn’t get any sleep last night because all three of them were having nightmares.

Any money spent on a movie - even a good one - subsidizes the filth...

One of my favorites also. Its funny how things jog the cobwebs. Not until I saw the commercial for this movie I had forgotten this book altogether.

My wife and I went this weekend and you're right...it stinks. Best thing about the movie was the popcorn!

Please everyone...don't waste your money!

I followed the link at the top and read about 30 reviews.

“This is simply a great movie no matter how you quantify
it. “

Could be a typical comment.

I found No scary reviews, and only one out of thirty negative comments because it was boring.

FR comments so far sound like more Harry Potter hysteria.

Well, as long as Hollywood doesn’t try to bastardize “Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel”, I’ll be happy. Absolutely loved that book as a tot.

It’s rated PG so it’s not intended for small kids.

Seems like the title is reaching a little bit.

The movies was not very good. It wasn’t aimed at children. It was aimed at older people who have fond memories of the book from their childhood.

However, the movie is bad. I have seen a few people in my fb friends who liked it, but the people I saw it with didn’t like it.

How is the title reaching? It was to start a discussion about the film and bring back one of the stories from the series THE REAL HILLARY CLINTON. Hillary had a connection with the author.

A children’s author showing up at a children’s hospital with one of the most famous politicians in America isn’t exactly disgusting to me.
