Truth is HollyB, like SJackson I don't have much to add. According to what I read, his father was a doctor who passed information to the Irgun during the war of independence. If one is an Israel-hater, then he is a terrorist and if one is an Israel-lover, he is a hero. I have known a number of people from that time. It was a terrible time and people did what they had to- to survive.
It sounds to me like he just wants to stay out of his son's way. No matter what he does or says it would be put under a microscope.
