The White House communications director, Anita Dunn, contrasted Fox News with CNN: Fox News is just a Republican opinion outlet, she said, while CNN is a real news network. Of Fox, she said, “Let’s not pretend that they’re a news network, the way CNN is.” She said this on CNN, of course. (In the 1990s, conservatives used to refer to it as “the Clinton News Network.”)
I got to thinking. Fox has some opinionists, such as O’Reilly and Beck. Fox also has news anchormen and correspondents.
CNN has those, too. One of the CNN anchors is Anderson Cooper — he’s their star, as I understand it. The hurricane guy. When the “tea party” protests got going earlier this year, Cooper interviewed David Gergen. Gergen said, “They [Republicans and conservatives] still haven’t found their voice, Anderson. This happens to a minority party after it’s lost a couple of bad elections, but they’re searching for their voice.”
Then Cooper said, “It’s hard to talk when you’re teabagging.” He said this smirkingly.

P.P.S. Another CNN anchorman, Rick Sanchez, spread racist quotations allegedly from Rush Limbaugh. These quotes were fabrications, meant to damage Limbaugh. Do Fox anchormen engage in slander and defamation?
P.P.P.S. Anita Dunn tried to pass off her tribute to Mao as something she once heard from Lee Atwater. Has Lee Atwater become the Democrats’ standard — the arbiter of Democratic discourse? What an interesting turn of events.

The biggest and most imrpessive difference between CNN and Fox News is the number of viewers. That’s what matters in the news business. Also, Obama’s administration wouldn’t be going on the attack if Fox News was weak and effete.
Typically, the Left ignores unintended consequences of its positions and policies, and this may be one time when it benefits the country and exposes the ignorance of the novices who display either a lack understanding of freedom or a deliberate effort to silence dissent.
Thomas Jefferson, who was often attacked by the press of his day, spoke out strongly in defense of freedom of the press. His passion, of course, was defending liberty, not government control, unlike that of the current Congress and Administration.
These are only a few of his remarks on that subject:

Lets face it. CNN and NBC are the worst anti-American left wing bunch of scum there is. I, in my 70 years, have never seen or heard such lies as CNN and NBC do every day as told to them by the left wing anti-Americans and it is not just the Administration but the big time billionaires who control their propaganda broadcasts.
I believe cnn viewership us under-reported in these polls. Cnn is the overwhelming network of choice for public places where people gather: airports, hotel lobbies, office building lobbies, etc. Are these viewers captured?

I’m glad you pointed that out. The reason CNN is the “overwhelming” network of choice for public places is the intolerance of lefties and democrats. Do conservatives ever whine because CNN is on? No. Do lefties? You betcha. Lefties make so many complaints in a public viewing place that the owners or operators just go ahead and put on CNN or some sports channel.

Are you for real? How in hell can you count as viewers people who are simply in the area of a TV tuned to a certain station? According to your way of thinking, I can turn my set to FOX, face it out the window on Madison Ave and count every single person who walks by as a viewer.
Lay off the sauce so early in the morning.
And don’t forget the mental midget Wolf Blitzer. Watching him report on the 2004 election returns (the last time I watched CNN) was hysterical-he clung to the hope of a Kerry victory right up to Kerry’s concession. It was pathetic.
I stayed in two Holiday Inn Express hotels last summer that had Fox News on in the lobby. Not only that, but Fox News was also the default TV Station in the rooms. I thought that was pretty cool. As far as airports are concerned, the sound is usually muted or you can’t hear it. Also, I’ve noticed that very few people pay attention to CNN on the TV screens in airports.
