Rolling bacteria carts on the street..just like third world cities.
I can’t imagine why anyone would live and work in NYC.
Somebody please tell me.

“I can’t imagine why anyone would live and work in NYC.

Because the sidewalks are electric, it is an astoundingly energetic place. If that doesn’t appeal to you, that’s fine, no criticism. It is a place where, despite the millions of people, you actually DO see the same people on the street every day. You DO run into people you know, and all the time. After living in CA for fifteen years, you’d think I would run into someone from my HS class. Nope. In 1986 I went back to NYC for a trade show, went out for pizza one night, and ran into two separate sets of people I knew from California within 45 minutes.

Everywhere you look, there’s something that catches your eye. When I was a kid, I used to take the PATH trains and the bus from NJ into the city and just wander around all day. Walked 60 or more blocks from Canal St to Columbus circle. The place just oozes life energy, good, bad, ugly, and crazy.

So, it has its’ plusses, it has a feel of being the center of the universe and of worldly power in a mega-urban way. But as the article implies, it’s astoundingly expensive to live there.
