The article indicaes that the fools were strongly encouraged, but not required, to stay in the lodge and the lodge followed a 36 hour fast that ended in the participants having a buffet breakfast. So a bunch of fools who had starved for 36 hours then pigged themselves out went immeditatley into a sweat box where they strongly encouraged each other and were strongly encouraged to stay, no matter how much physiological stress they suffered. It's no wonder they started to have multiple organ failures and die. On full stomachs, in a state of semi-exhaustion, they were subject to about 120 degree heat until they started passing out from heat strees, dehyration, and heat stroke. Any military that did this to prisoners would be guilty of a war crime. Indeed, in Seals training, which may involve things somewhat like this (Freeper Seals who know more than I please correct me if I'm wrong), the trainees are allowed to leave the program if they do not want to do such things. There's also adequate medical attention to prevent such Darwin events. Looks like Darwin awards all around for those fools.

The news is describing the guy who runs the place as a “Self help guru” and motivational speaker.
Define irony.

Maybe people should stay away from this kind of stuff - and remain healthy.

The news is describing the guy who runs the place as a Self help guru I think the guy "helped himself" to a good profit on this deal, at least before legal expenses.

Some people are at their best when they're at room temperature. Maybe the guy made a judgement call, and improved 'em right to the morgue?

Pulling this trigger takes 2.

I would have been headed for the door about the time someone informed me that there would be a fast.

LOL—I was just thinking, wow, we get lots of 100 degree days around here in the summer, maybe we should rent out our back pasture for “self help.” ;)

” she prided herself on leading a healthy and active life.”
I have found that people that lead healthy, active life styles still die.....and in some cases stupidity leads to death as well.....

I would have been headed for the door about the time someone informed me that there would be a fast. If I'm paying that much for something it better be one of those luxury lodge pheasant hunts where the fine wines, scotch and cigars are included. All you gotta do is bring your gun and chargecard.

Well, I can clearly see from that site that my self-help pasture might not make the cut. For one thing, we don’t put necklaces on old stumps and call it spiritual. What would Larry, Darryl and Darryl say? ;)

With regards to any special “special forces” training. Look, no matter how tough a person is and is trained up to be, we all have limitations. The special forces team that beats any other in real life is the one that is trained in operating with whatever limitation there is and going around it, “outside the box” is one aspect, but using tools, “whatever presents” and perspective is the bigger. Determination, flexibility and persistence. You can have a sickly skinny string bean and still be the best special force person there is if you can do that.

They also have this thing called “Colon Therapy”, which is “the process of flushing large amounts of water into the intestinal track to help release toxins. This cleansing may be supported by a recommended diet to heal from serious disorders.”
I tell ya, this sounds like more than just an enema...large amounts of water in the colon can lead to fluid overload (hypervolemia) and that can lead to heart failure.

The news is describing the guy who runs the place as a Self help guru and motivational speaker. Yeah, he's the guy who co-authored The Secret/Harmonic Wealth BS, along with Rhonda Byrne, IIRC.
A friend of mine who does express deliveries took a run to the drop shipper when the regular driver was ill. He said there were 19,000 dvd's he was taking. At 65 bucks a pop for the dvd's, and between 6500 to 10,000 dollars for a Spiritual Warriors retreat, I'd say he's rolling in dough.
His brand of new age snake oil bs was touted by Oprah, so I'm sure that enhanced his following.
