"Obama also worshipped at the church on Inauguration Day and Easter. St. John's has been a popular choice among presidents, including George W. Bush, because it is close to the White House and familiar to the Secret Service.
Washington churches have competed for Obama's attention since his election. He quit his last church, Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, during the presidential campaign last year after the circulation of controversial sermons by its former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright."

Poster's(DollyCali) comments: The first family has gone on vacation more than they have attended church since entering the White House. The article suggests..... "Have the Obama's found a new church home?"
Ha.. they have attended there 3 times since entering the White house... the most recent LAST Sunday and part of the interest was that the appearance of the three females in the family is again amusing (I KNOW there are better words..trying to be civil on THIS Lord's Day)
as I am not sure if Getty Images are permitted, I am just posting a link in the PING of the first family.

I think maybe Michelle had indigestion that day.
I agree. If she had great taste in clothing and dressed with class, she would project a more serious and intelligent image. I think it is a gift for us that she continues to dress herself in the her clownish/ghetto fashions to further point out that she is just another reason that the Obama’s aren’t up to the task.
I’m really not sure what her fashion style would be called. Black church ladies in the south really dress up for Church -it is a big day for them socially as well as spiritually - suits with matching hats - so she doesn’t fall into their catagory (in oh so many ways....) yet she isn’t really ghetto because she has kind of a school marm look with all of the cardigans. I could go with ghetto in a certain sense - like wearing $600 sneakers with Target pants and a top.... or wearing a $3000 blouse then odd looking slacks and cheap looking shoes. I don’t know - it’s more like she sees something or someone suggests something and she grabs at it but isn’t sure how to complete the outfit.
can we note that the older daughter is wearing a red top, orange cardigan and purple leggings? or would that be racist?
I think the style of all the females in the picture needs help, but I am very glad they are finally going to church on a Sunday morning!
Me neither....and at least in my church young couples sit with their arms around each other - like they were at the movies.
Most odd.
Alien.
I only do it when I attend the contemporary service because the tie makes college students (400-500 a week) a bit uncomfortable. I sometimes have door duty.
Our coat-and-tie crowd can be a bit pretentious at times. A lot of liberal college professors.
