They'd better ramp up production quick. The first thing they'll need to do when the Chinese start barraging Taiwan with ballistic missiles, is to hammer regional Chinese sub pens, ports, air defenses (which blanket Taiwan's airspace) and airfields to forestall China's invasion fleet and aviation strike units. It would be amusing if both sides spent the first days of the Chinese invasion recovering from missile strikes. It would give the USN time to organize resupply convoys to Taiwan and an allied response, if other countries are willing to get involved. The out-of-power LDP has traditionally leaned towards helping Taiwan in an invasion scenario. The socialists currently in power are communist-leaning pacifists. No one knows how they would react. Ogabe's hand will probably be forced. With Hatoyama, who knows...
