I agree 100%. Law abiding does not mean that you have never committed a crime. It means you have served the time and paid for your crime and are once again abiding the law. Convicts are not permitted to own weapons and carry them while incarcerated. That is all this wording implies.
Then it should say so directly. I will continue to use my interpretation as a warning to others that they might not be buying what they think they're being sold.
Of course, that's never happened before in this country. / s
