Some good history here. Especially 1962 Kefauver amendments raising drug costs.

What's with the “why’s health care so expensive” screed. Plumbers around here (WDC area) charge in the $150-200 per hour when they are at your house. They also charge you “travel time”. How many years did they go to graduate school and are they saving your life?

It’s not a screed. Merely the title I came up with to point to the video.

Because the industry is almost like drug dealers. You gotta have it when you need it and they can get away with charging as much as they can get.

Any other industry would have been shut down for usuery.

Well, it seems that way at least.

There are a lot of things they could "fix" in the current healthcare system and save a lot of money. For example, my Mother needed a wheelchair. Not one of those fancy motorized chairs, just a basic push chair.

I could have just bought her one for about $300, but the nurse said Medicare would pay for it. Great. Medicare, buy her one.

Medicare said that yes, she can have a wheelchair, but it must be a rental. More like rent-to-own. They only pay for rent-to-own.

So the $300 wheelchair will end up costing Medicare $1400 by the time the rent-to-own contract is fulfilled.

How many old people are sitting in rented wheelchairs right now? Just one example of many.

No, usury is what banks charge on credit cards. Thanks to Delaware’s representation, the two Senators and lone representative got legilation passed that was written for them by Bank of America. The three bank employees dutifully got the legislation introduced and passed. Now all America pays. BTW, they did the same thing with bankruptcy laws.

But, Joe “Stand up, Chuck” Biden, Tommy “I don’t read” Carper and Mike “I’m a RINO” Castle are poor and men of the people./s
