It's about momentum. A high profile New York election in a state with a very weak and unpopular Democrat governor can set the tone for 2010. She has an "R" in front of her name and if the Dems can hold the seat they can claim momentum for Zero's brand of Marxism.
That doesn't change the fact that the Republican Party and Newt Gingrich have once again spat in the face of the party's nominal base. His choice of candidate is correct as a party loyalist but incorrect from the point of view of the good of the United States of America.
We don't need Republicans like Dede, we need conservatives.
