Soccer is a team sport, you can have a team of the best talent in the world and if they can’t play well together, it won’t matter. That’s why despite all the money Real Madrid put into buying Ronaldo and Kaka, they won’t prevail over Barcelona, because Barcelona plays with a true team concept, rather than just having 11 individuals out there.
Why does the Galaxy do better without Beckham? Simple, because Landon Donovan is the true leader of that team, and Beckham just gets in his way when he’s in there. United gets rid of Ronaldo, and now Wayne Rooney is stepping up.
I am well aware that soccer is a team sport and I also know that not every great soccer player will be a good fit for every team. You are correct....Donovan’s leadership has contributed to Galaxy’s success.
