What impresses them is people taking to the streets and breaking things.
Why do you think that they are careful not to do anything to set the muslims, blacks, or communists off? Because they know that would take to the streets in a heartbeat and there would be riots.
The politicians in Washington D.C. hold us in lower contempt than the Officials of the Crown held the colonists before the Revolutionary War.
