....now we’re getting down to it....after all the sturm und drang from the ACLU and others, here is the real issue:

Does this JP have the RIGHT to refuse to marry them?

“Any ordained or licensed clergymen who have registered with the clerk of the district court of the parish or with the health department if in New Orleans, and justices of the peace.”

much depends on the language of the law...big difference between whether a JP “may marry” two people of “shall marry” two people.
