ObamaCare's Magic Math: Dems struggle to hide costs
NY Post ^ | October 16, 2009 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 10/16/2009 3:18:57 AM PDT by Scanian

IF only the laws of the uni verse didn't make it impossi ble to conjure something out of nothing. In a magical world free of such encumbrances, Democrats would be spared the bother of hiding the inevitable costs of ObamaCare.

The latest gambit of Democrats in both the Senate and House is to take roughly $250 billion out of health-care reform -- for Medicare payments to doctors -- and spend it in a separate bill. This instantly makes ObamaCare appear cheaper, although its impact on the federal budget will be precisely the same.

This isn't even competent three-card monte. It's the logic of the spendthrift who's maxed out on his Visa and MasterCard, but thinks it's frugal to put a new $6,000 Samsung 65-inch LCD flat-screen TV on his American Express card instead.

I guess Article II, Section 7 is meaningless as well.

“All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.”

Reid Admits Health Care Bill Costs $2 Trillion

HARRY REID: “He talked about CBO saying that there would be $54 billion saved each year if we put caps on medical malpractice and put some restrictions — tort reform — $54 billion. Sounds like a lot of money, doesnt it, Mr. President? The answer is yes. But remember, were talking about $2 trillion, $54 billion compared to $2 trillion. You can do the math. We can all do the math. Its a very small percent.”

I think these sleazebag politicians are starting to were the citizenry down with their constant power grabbing. they are starting to think, “yeah, whatever” and becoming resigned. The Dhimmis have counted on that all along. Like Mideast terrorists, they know Americans have limited attention spans.

Of course, when they find the pols have put a millstone around their necks they’ll start to get p.o.’d all over again. But then it will be too late.

Have them all report to Asheville NC, they know how to spend more without spending any. I heard this pol talking about the planned spending projects, each and every project was this: we will have some initial up front costs, but in the end it will pay for itself and produce income. I laughed as he went on and on about this. I thought, finally men have overtaken us girls in the “but honey, it was on sale” line.

“The residual benefits of this project will more than compensate for the initial outlay of funds.”

Oldest BS line in DC.

Asheville has turned into such a liberal hole. I love the area but my gosh! It must be too much ozone in the valley or something.

It seems like 70% either live off mom & dad or retirement or gov’t, so what do you expect? They are also under the impression they live in the most beautiful place in the world, so they are snobby and they charge a premium for it. I laugh and say the Hills of Western North Carolina because I have seen the magnificent mtns of Alaska and other naturally beautiful spots. Boy, they sure do get upset with me.

LOL

Well for my money they DO live in the most beautiful area of the world...

But I can get the same “million dollar views” over in Jackson County for the Walmart price.

And Jackson County is still conservative. Asheville will figure out they placed all of their eggs in the wrong basket.

If they’re going to pass it knowing and not caring what we think, why keep trying to sell it?
