Jackie Robinson can stand on his own merits and would probably prefer to, without the hero-worship and Race Man pamphleteering that has been written and teleplayed about him. He basically just wanted to play baseball with the other big kids, when you get down to it.

Imagine people making a big deal out of Dirk Nowitzky or Manu Genobili or Larry Bird just because he was white -- "wow, he really can jump, Bob!" Or Hideki Matsui, same basis. Which was what was happening with Donovan McNabb, which is what Rush commented on that time, and is happening in open-wheel racing with women drivers like Milka Duno, Lyn St. James, and Danica Patrick.
