The National Football League, in which each Sunday men weighing 365 pounds slam headlong into men weighing 245 pounds, has decided it can't handle Rush Limbaugh, talk-show host, age 58. C'mon guys, show some guts.
What began as a normal business dealMr. Limbaugh's participation in a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams NFL franchisehas degenerated into an unfortunate flap whose repercussions could extend well past Sunday afternoon football.
SNIP
What happened here, and is happening elsewhere in American life, is that Mr. Limbaugh's outspoken political conservatism is being deemed sufficient reason to ostracize him from polite society. By contrast, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, who fires off his own brand of high-velocity, left-wing political commentary but lacks Mr. Limbaugh's sense of humor, appears weekly as co-host of NBC's "Football Night in America." We haven't heard anyone on the right say Mr. Olbermann's nightly ad-hominem rants should disqualify him from hanging around the NFL. Al Franken made it all the way to the U.S. Senate on a river of political vitriol.
But Rush Limbaugh gets hung out to dry by someone of Roger Goodell's establishment prominence, and barely a soul from that same fastidious establishment has the courage to step forward to criticize it.
It is no secret that this country's politics has become intense across the ideological spectrum. Rush Limbaugh lets his listeners blow off steam and then get on with the rest of their day. But if the people who claim to worry about such things want to see a truly angry right develop in this country, they should continue to remain silent while the left tries to drive Rush Limbaugh and others out of American political life. If that happens, the NFL by comparison will look like an afternoon tea.

It'll be easy for me. The Redskins are still suffering under the rein of Dan Snyder.
Try being a Lions fan!
I am not going to support the NFL at all, no watching any games.
I raise you a Redskin and BUMP you a Lion. Long-suffering here in Michigan, kristinn...although I quit watching them 15-20 years ago. My Sundays have been fantastic for 15-20 years.
I can live without professional sports. First was baseball, then the nba and now nfl. I’ll go outdoors and create my own sport.
College ball just looks better and better.
Go Bucks!
I have been say the same thing all afternoon. I wish conservatives would ban together just this one time into a group and STOP anything to do with the NFL. DO NOT BUY A PRODUCT FROM A SINGLE ADVERTISER! DO NOT WATCH A GAME!
Also let us not forget the other community organizing steet thug Sharpton, lets get a list of his sponsors and supporters and BOYCOTT THEM! We need to learn to use thier tactics on them.
Congratulate the new NFL on their new Commissioner, Al Sharpton.
And then UNLEASH HELL!
The NFL know not what they have wrought.
I was sure the opposition came from the Chicago Staleys or the Canton Bulldogs.
They're long time fans.
I hate tackle football, period. Dopes beating up on other dopes.
Now that the Dolphins are going to have a skank for a co-owner (apparently Steve Ross has a “celebrity” fetish) I won’t be going to their games ever again.
Looks like Goodell will be a really soft target for the NFLPA in the next contract negotiations. What a pu$$y.
I REALLY want to quit watching, but I did that when the Colts left Baltimore.
Would it help if I signed up, and then quit?
I never heard Rush or anyone on his show wish violence or death upon opponents, unlike the garbage that spews from the mouths of the left.
When/where is the Super Bowl this year? Maybe a few thousand people outside protesting would send a message.
And here are Al’s sponsor’s
AMERICAN HONDA, ANHEUSER BUSCH, COLGATE-POLMOLIVE, COMCAST, ENTERGY, FORD MOTOR CO, HOME DEPOT,JOHNSON AND JOHNSON, MACY’S PEPSICO, PFIZER and WALMART. Lets hit them where it hurts, in the pocket!
Lets me see , Go to Gators games or winless Bucs.
