I don’t know if we saw the whole craft. Seems to me that all we saw was the gas shell land. Somethiing would have been below the dropped down portion of the ballon.

That was the whole craft—it was not designed to carry a human

apparently there is some kind of a door on that lower portion—think about it, no human was supposed to ride in it, so any latch would have been on the outside, really sad
