It's a fantastic interview. It's actually in two parts (this is part one). The first :30 seconds says a lot.
How many guests does Rush have on a year, 10-15?

So why wasn’t Rush’s PR agent prepared with clips of this to counter the view that all black players and coaches despised him?

Great question. He should re-run some of the interview.

It wouldn't have mattered. The vile perpetrators of this attack on Rush, solely to hurt him, don't care about the truth.
The NFL for their part are only interested in image and will run from any controversy perceived or real.

Until Dungy, Condi Rice, Walt Williams, Lynn Swann, etc. come to Rush's defense, these past interviews mean nothing.
Its times like these when you discover who your real friends are.

So where is Tony Dungy now?
Hiding?
Race trumps integrity?
Just asking!

I thought that too when this first surfaced. I just assumed Dungy would give a reasoned and impactful defense of Rush. You don’t have to be of the same political beliefs of Rush even to be on his side on this one.

Dittos! Its been real quite out there.

Exactly. But, as I have discovered with my most devout black Christian friends, race trumps all when it comes to Obama.

“So where is Tony Dungy now?”
In the same place Condi Rice, Walter Williams, J.C. Watts and the rest.
“Race trumps integrity?”
For African-Americans race trums everything.

I got in a discussion about just this topic with a high-profile female black sports anchor at ESPN. She is a Christian and very conservative. She would not vote for Obama but she said her father did. Her dad was the first black football player at West Point. She told her dad, “You are voting for someone who believe exactly the opposite of what you have always told us is right.” She couldn’t get him to change his mind. It was a very interesting discussion, and one without necessarily easy answers.

“The Hutch” called him today and he was livid at what happened to Rush.
