This metric could aslo point to another situation, employers are running out of people to lay off.Exactly

My husband has been laid off for three months. He is not qualified for unemployment benefits until next week. There are a lot of people that are not working that don’t show up in these figures.

Saw some signs at factories this week that reminded me of the Great Depression. Not accepting applications, do not inquire
Welcome to Hooverville Obama-ville, now leave.

1/2 a million more people out of work, but hey there is a D in the White House and both houses of congress, lets spin spin spin... Moronic.
More than 3 years of growth have been completely whiped out yet things are looking good? Be serious.

Why does he have to wait so long to get his unemployment benefits?

There's that word again, unexpectedly. Exactly. I was just thinking the same thing when I saw the headline. Each hour and half hour, the news 'blips' are played and they are hammering the words lower than 'expected', 'unexpectedly etc etc. People tend to pick up on buzz words and the media know that and uses words to manipulate people into a 'lull'. To be revised upwards and buried at the bottom of next month’s story about the unexpected drop in jobless claims. Every employment metric has been better than expected since this sick circus pulled into town. Meanwhile, the concept of job creation is a distant fantasy.
To: Blood of Tyrants
Please post me a link to a confirmation of this. Most states offer 6 months at the most of standard unemployment benefits, and you might get a 3 month extention on top of that. But thats it.
53 week extention? Were you being sarcastic about something?

Must be getting down to where there aren’t that many people left to lay off. Then the number is bound to drop.

employers are running out of people to lay off. I think that's a big part of it.

To be revised upward next week. In any event, any jobless claim number over 500,000 is a terrible number, historically speaking. Companies are shedding fewer workers because there are few workers left to lay off, short of going out of business.

When are we going to see reports about jobs added? Well, the 'Rat Gooberner of Michigan said last week that Michigan will add 42,000 new green jobs over the next eleven years!.....

42,000 new green jobs over the next eleven years! How exciting!
To: Blood of Tyrants
This is fantastic news. Soon, when everyone has lost their job, new jobless claims will fall to zero and everything will be wonderful!
