Kudos to Michael Steele. The Politico is reporting what we said would happen some months ago.
"Chairman Steele hasn't put up a cent, not even the obligatory $5,000," said a New York-based GOP operative. "There's been no support from the RNC. Democrats are going all out for this race. Everyone's in the same direction."
Here is what I have been able to confirm about NY-23 and why we need $25,000.00 for that race ASAP.
The fourth and sixth points are most critical. Pete Sessions is trying to save face and potentially wasting money that could be used next year. Also, Hoffman is gaining fast and can win with his ground game.
We have the opportunity to make a significant impact in this race.
GO HERE AND DONATE TO HOFFMAN ASAP.
I am confused.
Do you have a primary/runoff system where D’s and R’s all run in the SAME primary?
I need a play book for this one.
I do not get it at all.
Over the years when, to steal a line from Billy Joel, I wore a younger mans clothes I was involved with several pretty solid conservative candidates for Congress. One was a Democrat (Lawrence Patton McDonald) because that was the only way he could win in that district. Those old-timers who know Larrys record will tell you that he was a solid an anti-communist America Firster and more Republican than the pubbies in nearby districts at the time. (His mothers cousin was General George Patton from whom he got the middle name and his incredible resolve and love of this country.)
Those other candidates ran as Republicans. Because I was a rabid Bircher back then (still am philosophically!), those candidates had to pass my rigid litmus test or I went looking for someone who did. For that reason, I hooked up with what the TRADITIONAL country club pubbie establishment types believed were too radical for their refined tastes.
As those campaigns began to unfold and it became clear to the country clubbers that these guys 1) had a shot and 2) were pretty independent thinkers who would be hard to keep on the reservation once they got sworn in, the local pubbies communicated that information to the Republican National HQ types who rather quickly sent in campaign professionals ostensibly to lock up the impending victory.
Instead, in nearly every case to which I was privy, these professionals proceeded to TORPEDO our guys campaign in subtle but effective ways.
From that experience I can tell you that the pubbies at the HQ in D.C. would rather have a Democrat win a given district than have a pubbie up there who would embarrass them by refusing to follow the party line.
If YOU become involved in campaigns for solidly conservative, America and Constitution loving, hard-nosed, independent thinking candidates in 2010 and 2012 and beyond and I pray many of you do — please DO NOT trust any of those folks from GOP HQ in Washington. If they suggest sending in one of their professionals, tell them to fuggetaboutit.
They ARE WHO GOT IS INTO THIS MESS AND THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND!!!!
I like Hoffman, but I do not believe Owens is up “double digits,” DeDe was leading Owens last week in a Siena College poll by 8 points, and Hoffman was polling at 16%. Are you sure about th Repub poll?

Also Note that the NRCC, and party bosses (not an electoral primary) nominated one of the most liberal NY Republicans,
So in NY becuase of “fusion” politics the Conservative Party (and Hoffmann) have a real chance of winning..
I donated $10 just yesterday!
I may be a young’n but I my 5 or so years being involved in politics/elections has taught me the same lesson. RNC Types usually end up screwing up a good Conservative’s campaign.
She is a close ally of ACORN....she shouldn’t get a dime.
This is a special election. The GOP gave the nomination to a RINO. NY has a Conservative Party. They told the GOP to get lost and are running their own candidate, Hoffman, for Congress.
I just sent a donation to Hoffman. I also mailed a note to the NRCCC explaining that I refuse to donate to an entity that runs negative ads against a solid conservative in order to prop up an ultraliberal RINO; and since I used the NRCCC’s no-postage-required envelope, the NRCCC will actually be spending money to receive my note.
Telling them you were also a duly elected Alt. Delegate to the Nat’l Convention should carry some weight... one would hope.
The special election is being held because Obama poached the Republican congresscritter and made him Secretary of the Army. I think that will leave New Yorkers with only one Republican seat if the D’s win.
If the Dem wins, it would leave the GOP with two House seats (King in Long Island and Lee in Western NY). But we’re in good shape to win back 4-8 districts in 2010.
Thanks for the correction. We lost our GOP seats in 2006 and 2008; hope to get them back. Some of the rat incumbents have been laying low, looking like Blue Dogs. When Nancy says jump, they’ll ask “How high?”
