George Pataki will be in Iowa next month to raise money for local Republicans.
The former New York governor will be the headline speaker at a fundraising event on November 10th, according to Brian Kennedy, finance director for the Scott County Republican Party.
The visit could boost speculation that Pataki is planning to run for the Republican party nomination in the 2012 election. Other potential GOP candidates, such as Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, will be at an event in Des Moines three days prior.
Pataki spent time in Iowa during the 2008 presidential election; however, he did not seek the nomination.
You can pretty much consider any Republican from above the Mason-Dixon line a RINO. Same holds true here.

He wan’t perfect, but considering the state of NY politics, he wasn’t half bad. As president would be another matter entirely.
If he’s just raising money for the locals..then good for him. If he’s contemplating a run for Senate, OK but I’m not convinced that he is the best candidate. He’d be better than Clinton, Schumer, and Gillibrand. But that’s not saying much.
Pataki’s last two terms were a disaster. He sold the state to the unions for their endorsement. He spent all his time plotting to get a Presidential nomination that wasn’t going to happen. He went from being a back bench hack, to being a D’Amato sock puppet, to being Lurch.
Like I said....Pataki at least tried.
I didn’t say he was successful. NY state politics are a nightmare orchestrated by Sheldon Silver. So Pataki was trying to get the unions on his side, to see if he could trump Silver. Obviously, he lost that battle and Silver is still Assembly Speaker, hell he’s practically king.
Presidential material Pataki is not, but considering the current occupant of 1600, I’m not so sure.
And we hope he stays there. For Good.
