Update: Montana Attorney General Drops Investigation into American Police Force

BILLINGS, Mont. - Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock has dropped his investigation into a California company following its attempted take over of an empty Montana jail.

The company, American Police Force, had missed a Monday deadline to provide documents sought by Bullock's office after revelations that company founder Michael Hilton had a lengthy criminal background.

But because American Police Force has since pulled out of its bid to take over a 464-bed jail in rural Hardin, Bullock said Tuesday he was ending the investigation.

Bullock said Hilton's failure to answer questions about the project "speaks volumes about his company's legitimacy."

Well shame on those hicks for almost getting suckered into it. The APF gang wanted to do more than "take over the jail" (which was empty anyhow). They wanted to be the city's police department.

Darn, how many threads crying how Obama’s private army or the UN was on the march now go down the drain.

The city floated huge bonds to build a jail nobody wanted to use. FIrst mistake. This made them desparate for any offer - ergo the con man bait worked.

I got lots of flames from the resident Doomers and nutballs for pointing out that it looked like some kind of silly attempt at fraud or hoax.

I kept trying to tell people that this man was a con artist and boy I was flamed about how they were coming to take us over. People were getting ready to re-enact Red Dawn. And I’m usually the one wearing the tin foil.

Black SUV’s!!! Serbian FLAGS!!!

It would have been really funny if this was just a case of “viral advertising” gone overboard, if they had really been working for the remake of Red Dawn.

Oh my, that is BRILLIANT! Yes, take over some town (by contract of course) and then get some kids to start spray painting “Wolverines” everywhere... Yes, I want this to happen!

The city council is now looking at buying a bridge in brooklyn. They have been told by the currant owner they would be able to charge tolls and recoup their investment tenfold in just one election cycle.

Yes, they are. I fear though that they won’t get it right. I’ve heard good things, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

But it’s not like the original wouldn’t work fine as-is today.
