Woo hoo!! And we're now over 28%!! Thank you all very much!! God bless. |
Posted on 10/13/2009 10:31:01 AM PDT by Jim Robinson
First of all, I'd like to thank all of you for making Free Republic the number one conservative site on the Internet!!
There is no doubt that FReepers have made a difference in American politics. As an example, we FReepers worked closely with Bob Barr and helped him impeach President Clinton. That one's in the history books. The Clintons and the Democrats will never live it down. It might even have been a factor in thwarting Hillary's run for the presidency, though we're now stuck with someone just as bad. And that's only because we couldn't get a conservative on the top of the ticket. Just goes to show how far gone our political world has tumbled and why FR is needed now more than ever! No more RINOS!!
Another example is FReeper chapters turning out in Florida and DC and all around the country protesting and successfully blocking Al Gore's attempted coup d'etat in 2000. And again when FReepers exposed Dan Rather's fraudulent reporting and then pitched in to help swiftboat John Kerry. These are also in the history books.
But we live in a target rich environment. Through outright fraud and deception the corrupt Democrats have taken over the White House and both houses of Congress. Our Marxist-in-chief and his socialist enablers are now working double time to destroy what's left of our free economy and capitalist society. They will stop at nothing short of the total collapse of America if they are not stopped. Anyone who doesn't believe that is simply not paying attention. They have their sights set on the total downfall of America and world socialist domination and they've never been closer than they are today.
Should Obama's plans for taking over the health care industry, "revolutionizing" the energy sector, ie, bankrupting the oil, gas and coal industries, taking complete control over the financial and banking industries, expanding federal control over the entire corporate sector, bankrupting all heavy industry, mining, timber, agriculture, etc, etc, it'll be Katy bar the door. Our economy will collapse and down the drain goes our beloved US of A.
And not to mention his failures in foreign policy and national security/national defense. Obama is without a doubt one of the worst presidents we've ever had if not the very worst. Don't know which will kill us first, his overreaching Marxist economic policies or his bungling/inept foreign policy and piss poor execution of his duties as Commander-in-chief. Obama can't figure out whether he should attack or surrender as our enemy gets stronger and bolder. And if he allows Iran to get nukes, then it's just a matter of time. The entire Middle East is closer than ever to going up in a mushroom cloud and Obama doesn't have a clue. Borrowing from General Schwarzkopf, "he's neither a strategist, nor is he schooled in the operational art, nor is he a tactician, nor is he a general, nor is he a soldier. Other than that he is a great military man."
And who's going to stop him? We are. Not saying FR will do it alone, but we are one of hundreds if not thousands of similar grassroots organizations that are banding together to block this yahoo. We just happen to be one of the larger and older organizations and one with a history of accomplishments. And together we've protested at thousands of grassroots Tea Parties in every city of the land and we just turned out two million patriots to protest Obama in DC. This was probably one of the largest protests ever in our nation's capital. And we're just getting warmed up. The biggest protests are yet to come and then we turnout in historic numbers in 2010 and 2012 to dump the evil Marxist bastards!!
But just like the rest of the country we are currently struggling financially. We don't sell products or services. We don't sell advertising or memberships. There are no fees or dues to pay to use our services or to join our organization. We rely solely on voluntary donations from our readers and participants to support our organization and events and it has always worked very well in the past. I pray it continues.
We appreciate very much your continuing support and dedication to the cause. There is much work yet to be done. If not us, who? If not now, when?
Thank you all very much.
God bless.
Keep your powder dry.
Rebellion is brewing!!
Wanted:
A Few Good FReepers!
What do I mean by "A few good FReepers wanted?"Well, we are currently delivering over 1.2 million pageviews to over 230,000 visitors per day. That's 40 million pageviews to 7 million visitors per month or 120 million pageviews per quarter, 480 million pageviews per year. We currently have over 330,000 registered screen names on FR. Out of these millions of visits, hundreds of millions of pageviews and hundreds of thousands of registered FReepers and hundreds of thousands of regular lurkers only a relatively FEW actually donate the funds to keep FR alive.
Now I'm not complaining because we've always managed to meet our fundraising goals in the past, but it is taking longer and longer to accomplish the task. And part of that may be because it's mostly the same few dedicated FReepers providing the funds and along with the rest of us I'm sure they're stretched to the limit. Sure would be nice if a few more FReepers and lurkers would lend a hand and send in a few bucks. Doesn't take much. I think our average donation is around $20, but you can send in $5, $10, $20, $30 or more and make it a monthly contribution if you can.
A relatively few good FReepers is all it takes to keep FR on the air so hundreds of thousands of us can join together in kicking liberal butt and fighting for our freedom!!
For example, 1,500 dedicated FReepers and lurkers donating an average of $20 each per month is all it takes to continue delivering these hundreds of millions of propaganda fighting, pro-liberty pages to tens of millions of readers every year. How many concerned citizens and potential voters can we reach for a tiny fraction of a cent per page? FR delivers a BIG bang for the buck!!
If you enjoy posting and or reading FR and have never donated before, please consider doing so today. You can donate by secure server by clicking the link above or send your checks or money orders to:

That is awesome STT. There is an all girl quartet in our county that sings like that in four-part harmony. It makes for beautiful music. Thanks for the link, and thanks for listening to 1950.

Yeager breaks sound barrier
U.S. Air Force Captain Chuck Yeager becomes the first person to fly faster than the speed of sound.
Credits - Edwards Air Force Base
Chuck Yeager and Glamorous Glennis, named after his wife-the name he gave the X-1 that he piloted to Mach 1.06 on October 14, 1947.
Yeager, born in Myra, West Virginia, in 1923, was a combat fighter during World War II and flew 64 missions over Europe.
He shot down 13 German planes and was himself shot down over France, but he escaped capture with the assistance of the French Underground.
After the war, he was among several volunteers chosen to test-fly the experimental X-1 rocket plane, built by the Bell Aircraft Company to explore the possibility of supersonic flight.
For years, many aviators believed that man was not meant to fly faster than the speed of sound, theorizing that transonic drag rise would tear any aircraft apart.
All that changed on October 14, 1947, when Yeager flew the X-1 over Rogers Dry Lake in Southern California. The X-1 was lifted to an altitude of 25,000 feet by a B-29 aircraft and then released through the bomb bay, rocketing to 40,000 feet and exceeding 662 miles per hour (the sound barrier at that altitude).
The rocket plane, nicknamed "Glamorous Glennis," was designed with thin, unswept wings and a streamlined fuselage modeled after a .50-caliber bullet.
The Bell X-1 Glamorous Glennis
Because of the secrecy of the project, Bell and Yeager's achievement was not announced until June 1948.
Yeager continued to serve as a test pilot, and in 1953 he flew 1,650 miles per hour in an X-1A rocket plane.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975 with the rank of brigadier general.
This Day in History Yeager breaks sound barrier
The Bell X-1 Glamorous Glennis is in the Smithsonian Institute
Milestone: First aircraft to travel faster than the speed of sound.
Date of Milestone: October 14, 1947
Aircraft: Bell X-1 "Glamorous Glennis"
Pilot: Capt. Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager, USAF
Aircraft Location: Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum, Milestones of Flight Gallery
On October 14, 1947, the Bell X-1 became the first airplane to fly faster than the speed of sound.
Piloted by U.S. Air Force Capt. Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager, the X-1 reached a speed of 1,127 kilometers (700 miles) per hour, Mach 1.06, at an altitude of 13,000 meters (43,000 feet).
Yeager named the airplane "Glamorous Glennis" in tribute to his wife.
Air-launched at an altitude of 7,000 meters (23,000 feet) from the bomb bay of a Boeing B-29, the X-1 used its rocket engine to climb to its test altitude.
It flew a total of 78 times, and on March 26, 1948, with Yeager at the controls, it attained a speed of 1,540 kilometers (957 miles) per hour, Mach 1.45, at an altitude of 21,900 meters (71,900 feet).
This was the highest velocity and altitude reached by a manned airplane up to that time.
Transferred from the U.S. Air Force to the National Air and Space Museum.
Design Features:
Many important structural and aerodynamic advances were first employed in the Bell X-1, including extremely thin yet exceptionally strong wing sections and a horizontal stabilizer that could be adjusted up and down to improve control, especially at transonic (near the speed of sound) speeds.
Because of the stabilizer's success, later transonic military aircraft were designed with all moving horizontal stabilizers as standard equipment.
The X-1's fuselage was shaped like a .50 caliber bullet. Even the windscreen was specially flaired to retain the bullet shape.
The X-1 carried more than 230 kilograms (500 pounds) of flight test instruments.
Wingspan: 8.5 m (28 ft)
Length: 9.4 m (30 ft 11 in)
Height: 3.3 m (10 ft 10 in)
Weight, gross: 5,557 kg (12,250 lb)
Engine: Reaction Motors, Inc., XLR-11-RM-3 (model A6000C4) 4-chamber rocket engine, rated at 26,500 newtons (6,000 lb) static thrust
Manufacturer: Bell Aircraft Co., Buffalo, N.Y., 1946
