Is this the type of healthcare system that President Obama wants for the rest of the country?

Update: Make sure you check the update below. Rationing!

The Baucus plan and the Waxman Murphy plan both will tax you if don’t have health insurance. But as we pointed out right here it’s so much more than that. You will be taxed even if you have coverage, IF, it’s not up to government standards. Remember, you read it here first?

And yet I haven't heard a whisper -- amid all the talk of "drastic cuts" to bring the state budget into line -- of any hope of repealing RomneyCare, not a whisper. (Didn't Hawaii and Tennessee try some similar crack-brained health insurance thing -- though I think HI's was just children -- and finally admit defeat and repeal them?)

No, MA instead raised the sales tax and imposed a sales tax on alcohol (on top of the 37% excise tax!), all this in spite of the fact that MA is a small state and cheek-by-jowl with NH -- which has no sales tax. Then they were shocked, shocked when tax revenues fell! Though I expect any day to hear that NH has awarded the MA legislature a certificate of appreciation for the great contribution it continues to make to NH's economy . . .

State plan may place limits on patients’ hospital options

"There is little doubt that the state’s current system of broad choice and sometimes uncoordinated care has helped push Massachusetts health care costs above the national average. It can lead to unnecessary duplication of medical tests, when patients see multiple providers, each often unaware of what the others have done. And thousands of residents get knee replacement surgery, have babies at teaching hospitals, or other care, when often a less-expensive hospital would be more economical and provide good-quality care."

As Howie Carr keeps saying, the only hope for MA will be when it lands in Bankruptcy Court . . . sad when Bankruptcy Court is your only hope . . .
