To be clear. I think Hospice is wonderful for those with terminal illness who consent and know what it is.

But I have personally seen older people, placed in Hopice without consent by people with powers of medical attorney who have died, not well and without immediatly terminal illness. The requirement for Hospice is that you have six months or less of expected life. THat covers alot of people who are older and sometimes they die needlessly.

Just my opinion. But I have seen it.

The system is easily abusable, and if the appropriate nods and winks are there, it will be abused. How the heck did Terri Schiavo get into a hospice with this “six months death” rule, for one thing? She was there for years before the ghouls seriously addressed their goal of having her snuffed.
