Democrat Creigh Deeds is not backing off negative campaign ads against Republican Bob McDonnell, at least in the Northern Virginia area.
The campaign this morning releases a new spot already airing in the Washington area, which attacks McDonnell's claim, featured on many campaign signs, that he is "Fairfax's Own" because of his Northern Virginia childhood.
"Bob McDonnell says he's from Fairfax County," the narrator says. "But that was before he attended Pat Robertson's law school. And served on its board." Before, the narrator continues, he wrote that working women are detrimental to the family, he introduced 35 bills on abortion or voted against equal pay for women.
"So no matter what McDonnell claims, all signs say he's not from around here...anymore," it concludes....
It should be noted though that there there are plenty of negative ads being run by Republicans as well. Just this weekend, it appears the Republican Governors Association introduced a new version of its ads featuring footage of Deeds' weak performance answering reporters' questions about taxes after the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce debate last month. "Deeds Flips...Deeds Flops" the ad says.

Keep in mind Deeds was going nowhere in the primary until the WaPo shilled for him. The WaPo endorsed Deeds on the belief that any old Dem will carry NoVa by over 20 point automatically and Deeds’s rural background can enable him to cut into the GOP margins of SW Va and the Valley. It turns out that the Va GOP is regaining territory lost since 2005. Plus depsite repated visits by Obama, I’m surprised VA black motivation is low this year.
This is just an excuse to paint McDonnell as a bible-thumper. It won’t work. A lot of Democrats have been represented by Regents University lawyers in everything from DUI’s to personal injury lawsuits.
Regents is a fine law school that turns out honest, honourable lawyers. I’d rather have a Regents grad defend me than almost anyone.
Correction: Regent University does not have an “s”.
Update:
Bob will be participating in The Peoples Debate tonight at 8:00pm . The event will be co-produced by CBS 6 WTVR and WCVE PBS, and will be broadcasted on seven CBS and Public Television affiliates. We are working to see if the debate will live-streamed online, so stay tuned for updates.
Bob will also be co-hosting a Womens Rally with business entrepreneur Sheila Johnson tomorrow at 11:30am in Vienna, VA. For further information on the debate and the womens rally please visit the Events page.
Delegate Bill Janis Is looking forward to the McDonnell Deeds debate ..Rumor has it that Creigh is getting so desperate that hes considering bringing Tim Kaine into Virginia to campaign for him .
That’s hysterical!

Sad, but true.
Some bad weather on election day will help.
