The only person I can think of off-hand who deservedly received it was Mother Teresa and that was thirty years or so ago. Maybe that happened during the last days of the committee being composed of decent, rational, freedom-loving people? I don’t know. But it’s just become a joke. Peace? I guess getting Americans killed in a war he’s deliberately trying to lose cinched it for him.
It’s not that I want to see killing in Pakistan, but it’s sort of fitting that Pakistan just suffered a HUGE bomb attack in which 41 were killed, most likely by the Taliban, around the same time as the Nobel announcement. Ostammer is trying to pay off Pakistan to keep fighting the Taliban on one hand and on the other hand he’s saying the Taliban should be included in any emerging Afghan government. Peace? GMAB.
