Ammiano to Schwarzenegger: "Kiss my gay ass"
SFGate: Politics Blog ^ | 10/8/9 | Carla Marinucci, Chronicle Political Writer

ormer San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown is lambasting what he calls "highly inappropriate" behavior by San Francisco Democrats Wednesday who greeted Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger with a hostile reception during a surprise drop-in at a San Francisco Democratic Party fund-raiser.

But outspoken State Assemblyman Tom Ammiano of San Francisco, who shouted "You lie!" to Schwarzenneger during the event at the Fairmont Hotel -- and didn't deny reports he walked out with a quip of "kiss my gay ass" -- said the GOP governor's "cheap publicity stunt" earned a very appropriate show of political theater, San Francisco-style.

Schwarzenegger, in a statement this morning, aimed to laugh it all off, saying of his SF Democratic reception that "compared to the reaction I got in Hyannis Port when I told the Kennedys I was marrying Maria, it was fantastic."

An entertaining eyewitness account comes from Brian Luebitz and his crew at Calitics, who were there to celebrate with the Dems -- and who had the fascinating blow by blow today, complete with cell phone photos.

Here's the back story from some of the insiders: "Before (Schwarzenegger) showed up, people were talking about how unfortunate it was the Governor...was so missing in action on issues so important to San Francisco," Ammiano told us this morning. "Then I noticed the dye job out of the corner of my eye.''

Ouch.

Ammiano: "This isn't a chamber where someone suffers through. This is our house -- and it's like someone came in and took a big dump. He showed up; it was rude, he got up there and it felt to us that he was trivializing all the issues we care about.

...And that "kiss my gay ass" comment?

"That I don't really remember," laughed Ammiano, "but I've said that before...and if it was attributed to me..."

San Francisco never was a civil city, and still isn’t.

One of my favortie quotes of all time is from Paul Kantner of the “Jefferson Airplace,” “San Francisco is 49 square miles surrounded by reality.”

I think that pretty much sums up the situation.

I think Paul knew what he was talking about. I think I would have liked San Fran in the late 1940s to 50s though. It was still a sea port town populated by real working people. Same thing could be said of Seattle as well.

It was still a GOP-leaning city in the ‘50s, with a GOP Mayor (albeit a RINO). Ditto Oakland, Seattle (and Portland).

[He’s the person who has single handedly done more damage to the Republican Party than anyone since John Wilkes Booth.]

Sorry, but that honor goes to Mr. Spend W. Bush! If he had even ATTEMPTED to veto about half the budgets that came across his desk, BO would have never even SEEN the inside of the White House, much less be living in it!

He EXPANDED Medicare (forced prescription plan instead of allowing seniors to shop around), he EXPANDED the Dept of Indoctrination...er...uh...I mean Education (which is one of the most USELESS departments in the US Government), he SPENT more US TAXES on AIDs research/control/support in Africa than any other President (remember, it is a Demoncrat trait to spend our money on great causes and then claim how wonderful they are)!!

Nope, Bush has the “worst thing to happen to Republican’s since....” title SEWED UP!!!! IMHO!!

Agreed. I actually stole it from someone who was talking about Jorge Arbusto. But it was too good of a line to not use when talking about that big dumb sissie Austrian.

[...came from fellow republicans...]

Exactly, fellow REPUBLICANS; but not necessarily fellow Conservatives (not that Bush was). I keep hearing how we need to flush these RINOs, but I don’t think people realize how many of the currently elected Republicans would get washed out! Not that it would hurt my feelings!

This is why I say VOTE THEM ALL OUT! Until every single currently elected official in Congress and the White House have been replaced (not moved - I don’t McCain in the White House), we cannot rest! And yes VETO! Last time I checked, the President CAN veto any legislation, even from his own party!

[Article] Ammiano told us this morning. "Then I noticed the dye job out of the corner of my eye.''

Oooh, meow! Nice to see this public tribune has his gimlet eye fixed firmly on what's important here.

Not to worry, though. A few years, and the Norks or the Chinese will clean it all up for us.

Just don't forget, and accidentally take up residence inside the CEP.
