WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is prepared to accept some Taliban involvement in Afghanistan's political future and appears inclined to send only as many more U.S. troops to Afghanistan as are needed to keep al-Qaida at bay, a senior administration official said Thursday.

The sharpened focus by Obama's team on fighting al-Qaida above all other goals, and downgrading the emphasis on the Taliban, comes as the administration is engaged in a methodical but intensely debated review of how to overhaul the increasingly unpopular eight-year-old war.

Aren’t they just Franchises? What’s the difference?

Obama to McChrystal: “Listen, in understand you want to play Cowboys and Muslims. Thing is they’re my cousins...”

This president would not recognize evil if it jumped up and chopped his head off.

Next thing you know, Obama will send food, money and munitions to the Taliban as some sort of gesture of peace and understanding.

That could be what is taking so long. Trying to thread that needle is what is taking so long.

No “huh” about it. They are fishing around for a viable excuse that allows them to drop the ball on Afghanistan and the Taliban. This is a test.

He’s simply botched what he called the “right war”. Time to bring the troops home. He’s gleefully running around clueless, with his thumb up his a$$. Total incompetence. No sign of leadership. Obama is a cardboard cutout.

If I were one of the troops in Afghanistan I would dessert and fly home and let them arrest me.

No way I would get killed fighting with this stupid SOB as president.

Either bring them home or turn them loose to fight.

How many get killed by the Taliban while we try to hold Al Quaeda at bay.?

Iran backs the Taliban.

Obama doesn’t think we should even be there on his beloved Muslim soil.

Obama focusing on al-Qaida, not Taliban

Just like he was focused on Afghanistan and not Iraq.

Just conjecture of course...but, in the end, I suspect Obama wants to make peace with his muslim brothers and bring America into Dar es Islam.

I called my HR rep and my 2 Senators and told them all that Obama’s emerging position on Afganistan was the last straw for me and that Obama needs to be impeached. When I talked with a “Mike” in Senator Casey’s office, he actually told me that Obama had done nothing that warrants impeachment. I told him that I wasn’t calling to get his opinion and that gross incompetence is indeed grounds for impeachment. I asked him to simply pass along my request;not give me his opinion.

The Taliban and Al Qaeda have been allies for more than ten years. This would be like trying to separate Hitler’ from Himmler. Al Qaeda’s ideology is, in any case, something that glues the Taliban together. Without it, it is no more than a vaguely defined politically alliance.

There are huge differences...

al-queda: Evil & satanic
Taliban: Satanic & evil
