Aren’t you a teacher in California? Have you had to deal with violence in class yourself?
Yes, I’m on my sixth year in Los Angeles, having just transferred to a school “downtown” (read: bad reputation. Not fully inner-city, but definitely... well... downtown.) So far I’ve never had any problem with violence, but I do get some mouthy kids. I try to just stay calm, and it’s interesting how many of them come look me up a year or two later to assure me that they always liked me and they are much nicer now, and they miss me. I’m kind of motherly.
