Except for Goldwater, the republicans have always picked the guy who was next and Huck is not next.
Palin or Romney is next.
Nixon followed Ike in 60, Goldwater was the outlier, then Nixon, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I, Dole, Bush 2, Bush 2, and finally McCain (McCain was next by finishing 2nd to Bush in 2000 and by being in the Senate a long time).
Romney may be next by being in 2nd in 2008 until he dropped out or it may be Palin by being VP nominee.
They are next, not Huck.
Huck could easily become VP nominee in 2012 and then become next after that.
i hope you are right about that...
Palin or Romney is next.
i hope you are wrong about that...
“Palin or Romney is next.”
Romney is socialist crap!!
If Romney gets the Repub nod in 2012, I will not be voting for him, and will be completely finished with the Republican Party. It absolutely blows my mind that there are folks on here that scream and pontificate about how Huckabee is no Conservative, yet some of those same folks pimp for Romney saying he IS a Conservative... Huckabee is further to the Right than Romney the socialized-medicine Governor (among other issues).
If staytrue’s premise is correct that the Republicans have always picked the guy who was 2nd in the prior Presidential primary, then Huckabee would be next.
The final 2008 Republican Presidential Delegate count:
McCain 1575
Huckabee 278
Romney 271
It's not saying much, but Romney has less chance than Huckabee. Nominating Romney would permanently bury the GOP as an option for me and many others.
