NFL should think twice on Rush Limbaugh (Barf Alert!)
St. Louis Post-Dispatch ^ | 10/7/09 | Bryan Burwell

Posted on 10/07/2009 7:39:44 AM PDT by oldvike

Rush Limbaugh wants to own the St. Louis Rams. Well, good for him. His money is green and plentiful and his politics are conservative, which means he'll pretty much fit right in with the rest of the gang within the NFL ownership's corridors of power.

They probably don't care about his politics. In fact, if you checked most of their campaign contributions, you'd find that most of them probably are staunch supporters of the guy who has been called "the unofficial voice of the Republican Party." With a wink and a smile, they will surely welcome him to their club, because ultimately all they care about is whether or not his check will bounce, and we all know that's highly unlikely.

They will all look the other way when it comes to Limbaugh — forgetting his polarizing racial politics, conveniently ignoring (perhaps even quietly agreeing with) all the mean-spirited divisive bile that comes along with his ample financial clout — just like many of you surely will, too. They will look the other way because of his wealth and influence. You will look the other way because to some of you, he is your politically incorrect hero, and the rest might be willing to ignore all of that just as long as he can put enough money on the table to help keep your football team in St. Louis.

I don't have that luxury.

Perhaps the folks in St. Louis might be happier if Chinese or Saudi business interests purchased the team as they might soon be the only people in the world with money if the US economy continues down Obama’s path.

Burwell was a whiny hack when he was in Detroit and he thought that “race card reporting” was the ticket to success. Unfortunately for him, Stephen A Smith has that market cornered.

“Rush should save his money. In this depression sports gates may take a dive.”

Very true. The NFL spent the last 25 years changing from a gritty, blue-collar, working man league to an over-priced, over-paid, over-hyped celebrity fest. Ticket prices sky rocketed to the point that they were only sold to upper middle income earners and businesses looking for a marketing write-off. Now that those two groups are in trouble, season tickets to the local NFL team are the first things cut. Attendance is tanking.

The author is a lying racist. And he's lazy too. He proclaims as quotes from Limbaugh words that are not his. Here's a link to a list of popular Limbaugh "quotes" that are lies.

It isn't hard to research either, because a group just completed a study.

POliticians score significant Cash from NFL Owners, Players

There were articles about the study. The only thing I remember though (other than that I think the Rams were pretty liberal) was that Oakland's owner didn't give any mony to politicians.

You are right about Rooney, who bought an Ambassadorship from Obama.

Limbaugh has 100x the common sense of either 0bama or this columnist.

I might have to become a bit of a Rams fan when he owns ‘em.

I think Bryan Burwell is a racist for criticizing Rush Limbaugh.

“if you checked most of their campaign contributions, you’d find that most of them probably are staunch supporters of the guy who has been called ‘the unofficial voice of the Republican Party.’”

What? Since when was Limbaugh a candidate for office?

Oh, wait, I forgot that by reading this article I have wandered into the winding halls of liberal logic. Limbaugh has been called the voice or leader of the Republican party, by people seeking to discredit both him and the Republican party. Republicans have received money from football franchise owners, thus football owners are staunch supporters of Rush Limbaugh. Big Business supports dems more than most people care to believe, for whatever reason, though it follows when you bother to think it out. So I’m betting this argument is factually wrong in addition to being logically confusing.

Of course, you must realize sports teams make the lion’s share of their revenue outside of ticket sales.

Kevin Slaten is the only media personality here in town with any guts to stand up to Burwell’s incessant, ignorant racism.

Burwell is one of those self-appointed Black advisors who are actually anchors around the legs of Black Americans but do not know that they are.

Those quotes he attributed to Rush — I do not believe Rush ever said them.

I can’t believe in 60-something posts no one has refuted his Rush “quotes.” I know Rush is not even nearly a racist and I doubt he said those quotes.

How can we prove him wrong?
