FL 2010: Rubio boasts of success in fundraising [$1M+ in 3Q] [Crist scoffs]

Conservative Republican Marco Rubio says $1 million in donations to his Senate campaign is a 'strong statement' about the direction of the GOP.

BY BETH REINHARD

U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio said Tuesday he raised nearly $1 million in the past three months to challenge Charlie Crist for the Republican nomination, turning what looked like a cakewalk for the popular incumbent governor into a potentially competitive race.

In the previous fundraising quarter, Crist's $4.3 million dwarfed the $340,000 raised by Rubio. But the former leader of the Florida House from Miami gained momentum, winning 11 small, unofficial polls of county Republican clubs across the state and garnering raves in conservative media nationwide.

"The Rubio campaign has now proven it's a legitimate effort for the nomination," said John Weaver, a national GOP strategist who worked for former presidential nominee John McCain. "While the governor obviously is the front-runner, it is no longer far-fetched to see how Marco Rubio wins this race."

Polls coming out of New Jersey should frighten Crist. RINO Christie (can you believe these names?) has lost nearly his entire lead to an independent running to his right. Sadly, this will probably only save Corzine, but it would be worth it if it teaches the RNC not to support the most liberal candidate in all circumstances.

Aw, who am I kidding... if they didn’t learn after the 2006 and 2008 elections...

I keep hearing lots of good things about Rubio. Does anyone have some more information on the guy? Where can I find out some more on him. This guy could be a rising star in conservative ranks.

Rubio has my VOTE

Waiting for the Rubio bumpersticker to arrive.

Not much buzz in the local media (I’m in the Tampa area) yet.

IMHO all Rubio needs to do is point out that Charlie has raised taxes in Florida and the state has suffered and people and businesses are leaving. And to remind people that Crist ENDORSED the Obama Stimulus.

The GOP has to clear the RINO’s out

even if Rubio doesnt win this time around i feel he is truly a, and you will forgive the term, “rising star” in the party. after this he could probably run statewide and win any other race that comes down the line. maybe take on the Dem Senator incumbent whenever his term is up

Where did you order the Rubio bumper sticker? I already gave some money to his campaign but can’t find where to purchase any buttons, bumper stickers etc.
