The Department of Fish & Game here in California has been working overtime for several years on a program to close huge areas up and down the coast and around all the Channel Islands to public use. The tree huggers are pushing this Marine Life Protection Act to the nines because of the big research grants involved. Of course they have research permits and will have access to all the closed areas. This is happening now and the best fishing and dive spots will be closed and off limits to sportsmen and commercial fishermen as well. It is a done deal.
