On Mondays CBS Early Show, co-host Harry Smith promoted a new book and documentary about a New York City couple that spent a year without modern amenities, such as toilet paper and electricity, to limit their impact on the environment: This is an amazing saga....when the lights were switched back on, Colin and Michelle clearly saw a year that meant so much more than living without toilet paper.
Smith asked Colin and Michelle Beavan what their inspiration was, to which Colin replied: Concern for the planet. I mean, we were reading so much about global warming happening and we were just frustrated because what can any one person do? So we thought wed try to do what we could. Michelle added: I had just seen the movie An Inconvenient Truth, so that really it was kind of perfect timing.
In response to the Beavans only eating fresh unpackaged food, Smith saw the logic: the cost of what the wheat is in a box of cereal that costs $4? Its a couple of pennies, you know, versus all of this stuff thats around it. So theres theres some sense in all of this. Near the end of the segment, Colin again cited global warming hysteria: And we discovered that, you know, there is a climate emergency happening and it is possible for us as citizens to actually take care. Smith agreed: You just have to get 300 million people to do it.

Did Harry Smith stand up wind of them???
Fecal coliform bacteria are our friends!
Basically these idiots have adopted a standard of living that my great grandparents had in about 1880. I seriously doubt most Americans would be willing to take their standard of living back more than a century. By the way in my great grandparent’s day “toilet paper” consisted of corn cobs. According to my father, when visiting his grandparents he was instructed to use a brown cob first followed by a white cob as a test whether another brown cob was needed.
I find it interesting that they stopped after a year. Why did they do that if it was so darn great?
Did they fly in for the interview? If so, they used up more carbon credits than my family used all last year.
He who goes to bed with itchy butt wakes up with stinky finger
Why believe the story? They almost certainly cheated, if they did anything at all.
Man their hemmorhoids are gonnna be pissed when they find out the planets been cooling slightly since 1998.
Trees are renewable resources and so is cotton. Someone give that man a lesson on horticulture.
And now for there next trick. Not to bath for a year.
Speaking of TP.
Those creeps have now whacked off .3 inches in width.
They thought I wouldn’t notice.
You do something for 50 years, you notice.
I wonder if they are aware that going to an agrarian society with 300 million people would severely deplete the soil, we would be dumping waste in all waterways, ground water would become polluted, and air pollution would go up do to the fact we would have to burn wood for heating and cooking.
I hope this couple isn’t breeding.
“Indeed, when the lights were switched back on, Colin and Michelle clearly saw they were in deep doodoo.”
OMG WHAT MAROONS!
Wouldn’t it be simpler to plant a damn tree to alieve your guilt?
CBS just announced that all toilet paper in the CBS studio bathrooms will be removed starting tomorrow.....
Well, they either licked their fingers clean or their nether regions crusted over pretty bad. I wonder how many global resources they used seeking medical attention.
Anyone wanna bet that they waste soil, water, and sunshine growing pot?
I noticed.
We may have to go back to corn cobs.
You just have to get 300 million people to do it.
I have a better idea. They can live in a cave and light their farts to keep warm while the rest of us live in reality.
It’s amazing that poor hygiene is being celebrated as a desirable lifestyle.
