Little Rock Police are looking into the death of a local attorney who made headlines earlier in his career.
According to a police report, William C. "Bill" McArthur, 71, was found dead outside his apartment Saturday night in the Shadow Lake Apartment complex at 13111 West Markham Street.
The police report lists the incident as an unattended death.
In the 80s and 90s McArthur's name was often in the news in regards to the Mary Lee Orsini case. McArthur defended Orsini after her arrest for the murder of her husband Ron Orsini. A Pulaski County jury found her not guilty.
In 2003, one month before she died of apparent heart failure in prison, Orsini confessed to killing her husband.
Orsini was in prison after being convicted of ordering the contract killing of McArthur's wife Alice in 1982.
Alice McArthur was found shot to death at her home, two months after she was injured in an attempted car bombing.

Geez - this is unreal. It reads like a Grisham novel.
Was the apartment anywhere near Fort Marcy Park? /s
Come again?
Orsini killed her husband but McArthur got her off but she went to jail for contract killing McArthur’s wife? So why would this man defend her?
Welp, Hows bout an episode of "City Confidential": Little Rock: The Politics of Murder
I remember that thread.
Yeah, how about that?
RIP.

He was acquitted of his wife’s murder. There were some other shenanigans relating to a local disk jockey and a a nightclub. Be kind. He had kids.
parsy, who says it was a big story around here
I still have the book "Murder in Little Rock" by Jan Meins.
I wonder what an "unintended death" is code for?
sw
I saw this story on A&E or the Discovery Channel a few years ago.
You aren't supposed to say anything but good about the dead?
Bill McArthur is dead. Good.
Dysarty, who thinks they don't know the cause of death but an 71 y.o. meeting sudden death shouldn't necessarily set off alarm bells but.. there IS a certain aura here...
Well, if he ate at the Markham Faded Rose as opposed to the Rebsamen spot I think we might have a lead...
Most lawyers are varmints. Never understood the fuss after Dick Cheyney shot one, open season, no limit, what’s the big deal?
In Cheney’s case the infraction was doubly wrong— Lawyer season was already over, and he’d already bagged his limit.
Here in PA; no limit, no closed season.
