A new report from a national coalition of mayors urges President Obama to adopt dozens of reforms to help curb gun violence, including steps to crack down on problems at gun shows and the creation of a federal interstate firearms trafficking unit.
The "Blueprint for Federal Action on Illegal Guns," a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Post, presents 40 recommendations that "would dramatically improve law enforcement's ability to keep guns out of the hands of criminals -- and, in doing so, save innocent lives."
The strategies outlined by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a bipartisan group of about 450 mayors nationwide, focus on the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The agency, which has been sent a copy of the report, declined to comment.

Amazing, isn’t it? I think PA actually has the largest # of mayors......I find that unbelievable with how big of a gun state PA is.
Word has got to get out of this, and these clowns need to be voted out.
My question is, what exactly is an “illegal gun”?????
All guns are legal, even machine guns. If the mayors cannot even sign their name to an organization with the proper name, what good are they for anything else?
I have to say I’m shocked that Marianna, PA was on there. You don’t get much more “country” than that around western PA.
BATFE... hm, remember Waco, anyone?
And remember the FBI’s snipers at Ruby Ridge?
Yeah, I don’t want the federal government involved in ‘investigating’ me for ‘allededly’ owning/manufacturing/selling guns.
On the up side, the mayor of Hurst is the only Texan on the list.
Colonel, USAFR
Knew that girly-man would be in there.
Please get the word out to other gun owners, and also call and write to let these mayors know that it is unacceptable they belong to Bloomburg’s group.
Who the hell are they these imbeciles? They work for us and DO not dictate anything!
These people are effin loons!
Agents at gun shows should “develop undercover integrity tests” to determine whether felons or out-of-state residents are making illegal purchases.
Got to send this out.
Kind of surprised Bill White (D-Houston) didn’t sign it, but he’s got his eyes on the US Senate.
This is the Bloomberg group. Mayors have been dropping off of the list in droves after learning that the goal is anti-second amendment and has little to do with actually keeping guns from criminals.
Mayor Shirley Franklin Atlanta, GA Mayor Jere Wood Roswell, GA Mayor John Fretti Valdosta, GA Mayor Donnie Henriques Woodstock, GA
While I am unsurprised about Atlanta's mayor -- she's a ditz -- I am surprised about the other mayors. They are in rural areas (except Savannah, but that is a city in the middle of a rural area). Seems like there should be a few 'forced retirements' from this list.
Another day, another lack of transparency.
Mayor Dennis Walaker
Fargo, ND
Can’t believe he is still in office.
And it wasn't even the mayor of Austin!
.
YAY!!!
Texas only has ONE!!!
Come to Texas!!!!
My mayor is on the list. Looking forward to voting against her in about 4 weeks.
