Officials: Abducted newborn safer in state custody

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A newborn boy abducted by a woman posing as an immigration agent was again taken from his mother after a brief reunion, this time by state officials who said the baby and his three siblings would be safest with foster parents.

Rob Johnson, a spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Children's Services, said the children were taken from their mother, Maria Gurrolla, "purely for safety reasons," though he would not detail why they were in danger.

Johnson said officials made arrangements for Gurrolla to see her baby Saturday afternoon and hold him, four days after he was abducted. She brought her three other children - ages 3, 9 and 11 - to the reunion and all of the children were then taken into custody. Johnson, who said he could not discuss details of the situation for privacy reasons, said a judge would review the case next week to determine when the children can go home.

Joel Siskovic, an FBI special agent in the Memphis division, said there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the family. He could not say why the children were put into state custody.

Gurrolla, 30, was stabbed in her home Tuesday during the kidnapping, just four days after giving birth to Yair Anthony Carillo.

Nashville police said the baby was found in good health Friday night at a home in Ardmore, Ala., about 80 miles south of Nashville near the Tennessee line.

She was probably teaching them about Jesus and other things which go against the state.

I can only guess that the mother is, possibly, an illegal alien. Why they would take the children, I’m not sure, but if she is illegal, the children are anchor babies.

This story gets more convoluted every day.

I thought I was misreading it. How sad for the mom, illegal or not, her newborn was found and she’s lost him again, and her other children. I can’t imagine what their good reason might be.

Instead of pulling this thread we replaced the title you created

"State takes 3 other children of mother whose baby was kidnapped at only 4 days old"

with the unaltered published title. Please only use published titles. Thanks.

The story implies that the kidnapper talked on the phone with someone who wanted the mother and children dead. If that was the case, and there was an unmentioned reason *why* someone might want them all dead, it would be very legitimate indeed to essentially put the children in protective custody.

Being illegal aliens might be the key. There is a LOT of illegal on illegal violence based on the drug trade. This is so out of control that killers will illegally cross the border into the US, kill someone, then return to Mexico.

The mother and her children might be in the US particularly to get away from killers.

No children are safe in state custody. Ask some of those Massachussettes folks

Sieg Heil! The children will be better off at the indoctrination camps...I mean public schools, singing songs praising our dear leader!

Sadly, closer to the truth of our current situation rather than satire.

There’s probably a lot more to the story than we’ve heard, and police are probably only in the early stages of figuring out the whole story. Most likely the children really are a lot safer in state custody right now. What’s unlikely is that there is no prior connection between the person or persons behind the abduction, and one or both of the baby’s parents. Kidnappings in violent home invasions by total strangers are rarer than rare.

Per the mother, the woman who did the abduction called someone right after grabbing the baby and stabbing the mother and said “The job is done” and that the mother was “dying”. Either the mother made this up and is lying to police for some reason, or the abductor was working on behalf of some unknown third party whose connection to the family (if any) still hasn’t been determined. It’s entirely possible that the parents are involved in drug trafficking and/or gang activity and that they were targeted due to that, and if so, all the children are a lot safer being out of their parents’ home.

I think you’re likely very close to right. The parents may have “owed money” to somebody in connection with drug trafficking, and the cute, healthy, readily saleable newborn baby was taken to satisfy the debt. I doubt the parents were directly in on a baby sale — there are much lower-visibility ways for an illegal immigrant couple to sell a baby for cash.

You’re right, there’s got to be more to it. Even if she or her family was not directly involved in drug trafficking, maybe targeted by traffickers for not ‘cooperating’ with the them.

The baby in the picture has a very strange color. If it’s the correct color (not changed due to the photo) I’d be concerned he has a health problem
