An arrest warrant has been issued for a man convicted of stealing manhole covers from Ottawa streets after he failed to show up at court for his sentencing.
Timothy Argiropoulos, 43, pleaded guilty in May to theft and mischief endangering life after being charged last July after 25 manhole covers that went missing from the Smyth Road and St. Laurent Boulevard area.
Argiropoulos was also supposed to deal Friday with unrelated charges for dangerous driving and theft of copper wire.
Argiropoulos has an extensive criminal record, which includes multiple convictions for theft and other property offences.

The charges were laid after more than 125 manhole covers disappeared from streets across the city last summer. The theft created a dangerous situation for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists, police said at the time.
It was believed an escalation in global commodity prices had transformed the lowly manhole cover from mere urban staple to the world's heaviest coin. The value of base metals had soared and thieves started taking everything from copper wire to bronze statues.

Well knowing that a dangerous criminal is on the loose just makes my morning complete.....
Will his AWOL-of-court excuse be that he was actually going to be ontime, but while driving to court, his car front end went into a coverless manhole?
Show him no mercy, the holey terror that he is.
Somali? This sounds like the type of crap they do in the Mog.
He must be a pretty burly guy.
Speaking of man holes. Whats Paris Hilton up too?
Want to bet he fell down a hole?
