Hyperinflation

I agree with you - this is what we have to look forward to. America is paying off it's credit card debt by opening up new credit cards at new banks. Someday this comes to a very very nasty end and the only people that make out are the ones who are deeply in debt and have all that debt wiped out. The asset holders are wiped out.

MM, while I'm not a "Birther", in following that scenario I have wondered if indeed it is know by a select few that Zero is NOT eligible to be CIC and this fact has been held in reserve for the time when it is needed to take him down without the bother of impeachment or the necessity of assination.

BUT how will he be taken down without impeachment now that he has been sworn into office? I don't see any other way - Nixon (the only PRes to resign) left because of the threat of IMPEACHMENT. No one is going to threaten impeachment with a full complement of RATS running the government backed up by the Jurassic media.

Are you saying there are no solutions? That the best thing to do is do nothing?

With the circumstances mentioned (the folks in office), precisely.

I recall Teddy Kennedy doing it to Carter (but Chappaquidick was his fatal flaw) but that weakened Carter enough for Reagan to beta him; and Bobby Kennedy doing it to LBJ who gave us Hubert Horatio Hornblower Humphrey to face ultimately successful Nixon.

Hum...that’s the ticket! Have them challenge Obama from within and we’ll win.

As usual I'm late dropping in, but after a read through the thread I noticed no one had responded to your thoughtful proposition:

...I think it just might be time to get the hell out of Afghanistan and I don’t say this as a dumb liberal but only after serious conservative thought. ...

I agree pretty much with your reasoning as outlined in the remainder of that post and would add a few additional thoughts of my own.

First, the repeatedly asserted premise that "Afghanistan is the REAL war" is not just wrong, it's dishonest, and has been employed as a distraction and scheme to divert us from dealing with the real loci of the terrorist problem in the Middle East: Iran, Pakistan, Syria and Saudi Arabia. Remember back in 2003 when debate was raging over "why Iraq" the answer was "look at the map".

Iraq is both the geopolitical and the militarily strategic/tactical center of gravity for any effort to "drain the swamp" of the Middle East. Afghanistan has always been and still remains peripheral to this strategic reality. As was repeatedly pointed-out in discussions on FR, Iraq gave us an unsinkable land-based "aircraft carrier" smack dab in the middle of the vipers' nests from which to project power and effect change. Bush seemed to understand this at the time and started out well, but then for some reason lost his way.

I also understand the urge many good people have to not appear to cut and run, and who believe we must therefore commit more resources to Afghanistan. The problem is their hearts and their pride are overruling their heads. It is beyond obvious that the current Obama regime has no intention of trying to win in any war theater where we're involved, so the equation becomes one of how many more lives of our military are to be wasted to achieve the desired balance of saved face?

In a sane world, what I would propose would be a withdrawal from Afghanistan through southeastern Iran in order to take control of their oil fields, coupled with air strikes to take out or cripple as many of their nuclear sites, military bases and power-generating infrastructure as necessary to either force the mullahs to negotiate favorably or else be overthrown, plus a naval blockade of all Iranian sea traffic.

There was a time when this could have been done with a high probability of success. It could still be done now, although the window is closing rapidly. The problem, as it has always been, is not a lack of ability but a lack of will, and that is why, in this reality, the men of the West are losing to the forces of Shadow.

Of course this is all academic, Fish, the die have been cast and come up craps, but I wanted you to know that your thoughts were appreciated... /g

The scenario I'm thinking of is a case where the DEMS want to get rid of him without being tagged with the "Impeachment" label.

By that time, the shine will have worn off of the little tin god enough that the DBM will be compliant and demand resignation or a court challenge.

As I said, "just thinkin'".

Speaking of fish, do you have a recipe for mullet (not fried).

As you noted in a later post, grilling is the way to go. That lime recipe sounds good. Here's mine:

Gut and split mullet flat (leave heads and scales on); Season to taste - lime, salt & pepper, (I like Cavenders' Greek Seasoning); Brush with extra-virgin olive oil; Grill over medium charcoal scaly side down for 6-8 minutes, flip and grill another 4-6 minutes; Dig in (literally)... /g

do you have a recipe for mullet (not fried).

Standard fish recipes:

Grilled #1

Grill fillets over charcoal or gas until flaky turning once (the fish). Serve with lemon wedges.

Grilled #2

Marinade fillets in Italian dressing for at least an hour, then follow the directions for grilled #1, omitting the lemons.

Grilled #3

If the fillets are big enough to cut into 1+ inch chunks, wrap with bacon held on with tooth picks, sprinkle with garlic salt, stick onto shish kabob skewers, and grill over charcoal or gas until done, turning three times to ensure even cooking.

#2 & 3 are especially good with mesquite charcoal.

Baked

Put fillets on oiled cookie sheet or other flat pan (stoneware works well) and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Turn fish over and bake for another 10-15 minutes until flaky. Serve with tartar sauce or lemon wedges.

Any of these recipes can be used to make fish tacos or fish sandwiches, although most people prefer fried fish for those purposes. Times and temperature are approximate so keep an eye on the fish when cooking.

Here is a favorite of mine and my buddy when we were 15 years old and spearfishing at Punta San Miguel near Ensenada, Mexico.

Gather driftwood and build a fire among the rocks near the shore. Snorkel out to the kelp beds and spear some fish. At the shoreline, gut the fish, leaving the entire fish intact except for the entrails, rinsing the fish in the sea water. Stick the fish on a spear. Position the spear over the fire and turn as needed. Pluck the fish meat out with your fingers and eat.

Yes, that would probably work - but they would have to get the Jurassic media to go along. If the Jurassic media stood with the Obamessiah and not the DEMS who wanted to do the ridding, then it probably won't work. Jurassic media runs politics in America because we have so many ignorant people in the voting pool.

Well thank you so much Swamprat.

At times I do tend to think out loud and today was such a day.

I’d love to see your proposed exit route via Iran but I sigh like you. We could do it but you know we won’t.

Every day my ears perk up when I hear about another death in Afghanistan. Because I know that it’s more than likely an unecessary death and THAT more than anything causes me pain.

Thanks so much for taking the time. Someday we’ll have a real leader again. It’s one thing to play politics over a silly international game but when you’ve got young Americans dying it becomes a tragedy.

Excellant clarification of your points!

I have yet to see the republicans come out with a SIMPLE, EASY TO GRASP, EASY TO MARKET, 3 OR 4 STEP SOLUTION TO COUNTER OBAMACARE.......

NOW is the time to say ,’We aren’t saying no to helathcare Reform...here’s what WILL work:
1. Across State Lines Competitive Insurance to reduce costs

2. Your own Individual Healthcare Plan you carry from job to job, or in between!

3. Catastrophic plans with Tax Deductible HSA’s.

4. Tort Reform.

Somehow, the conservatives just can NOT get this simple message out in an easy to get, powerful way! they don’t even HAVE advertised a Bill that would carry just the four points!

Bayh is an opportunist, and also is heavily indebted to the unions. He talks moderate but votes pretty much along Pelosi lines domestically.

He got his moderate reputation by supporting Bush on defense and the war.

Bayh has a lifetime ACU rating of 20.7.
