Blame the GOP. We had control of the Congress and POTUS under GWB for 6 years. We could have used 9/11 to go after the left, under Bush 41 we could have used the fall of the Soviet Union and subsequent access of the KGB archives to go after the left. Many in the left were guilty of treason during the Cold War. Instead the RINO just wanted bygones be bygones. They thought the left was defeated. It was not because they took root in our schools and colleges, and from their they planned their comeback. It took many years but they finally created a network and illicit fund raising machine that took advantage of technology to funnel foreign money to support BHO. ACORN, SEIU, foreign sources for donation via credit card w/o encryption paved the way for BHO record fundraising and Wall Street recklessness provided the catalyst to tilt the election in 2008. Many of these factors could have been eliminated when the GOP took power under Bush41 and GWB. Of course Rove’s harebrain scheme to gain Hispanic voters by giving amnesty did not help and McCain’s campaign reform was a real boner to boot.

Well stated.
The Republicans had them on the ropes and didn't go for the knock out punch, now we are living with the results. That just about drives me crazy whenever I think about it.

I have a 20-something son whose standard argument whenever I say anything negative about Obama is, ‘well Bush did .... .’ Tonite the discussion was about Valerie Jarrett and Chicago cronyism. Once again he brought up Bush 43 and Texas cronyism.

To his surprise, I said the Bush presidency was destroyed by two major personnel misjudgments of President Bush 43. One was to appoint a Texan, in the person of Scott McClellan, as White House spokesperson; the other was to put Mel Martinez from his brother’s state of FL in as head of the RNC. Neither McClellan nor Martinez was up to the task. McClellan was not only incompetent, he was a total snake.

Especially given Bush’s personal inarticulation he needed superior spokespersons. Yet, after Ari Fleischer, he put in McClellan? The Bush White House never recovered, even with Tony Snow. By then it was too late.

Martinez led the RNC in the Spring of 2006 to adopt a pro-amnesty position that drove off major benefactors and much of the base. That led soon after to the 2006 election debacle. The GOP would not have been nearly so vulnerable to the last minute Foley story had the RNC not driven off its base months before.

And, let us not forget, the GOP came into power on Capitol Hill in 1994 with a ‘defund the left’ goal, then did absolutely nothing. It took 2 20-somethings and Braebart to begin that defunding 15 years later.

“Many in the left were guilty of treason during the Cold War. Instead the RINO just wanted bygones be bygones.”

IMO RINO’s are the Left just as any Democrat is the Left.

IMO RINO’s are actually incognito Leftists, and traitors providing cover for their bretheren back at Dem Central.

IMO No RINO’s means the return of the two party system.

IMO No RINO’s means the return of legitimate debate.

All of what you say is true but while we had maybe six years of power in Washington, the context of the article points out that the left has had power in the land for generations. The left has looked ahead and realized that the key to gaining and holding power was to win the future generations. They did it by taking over the schools, the universities, the media, and the mass entertainment world. Just look out there and you'll see what the article says is true. By and large, people today, of all ages, but especially younger ones, are almost constantly bombarded by leftist filth, some of it overt (e.g., singing praises to Obama in the public schools), to covert (e.g., revisionist historical "dramas" on TV and films or textbooks in schools).

The left has won the strategic battle by winning future generations. The traditional values people were running on momentum from the Faith of Our Fathers and the enduring document of the Constitution and a few voices crying in the wilderness here and there. But, over the course of decades, not years, the left has ground those down and is on the verge of stomping them out. That is the real lesson that the rise of Obama arrows for the future.

Agree with everything you say. Let’s not forget ‘sharing power’ when they didn’t need to.
