What does any of this have to do with the NRA?

From the looks of it, NRA blessed a provision that is being used in Oregon to deprive disabled veterans of their right to bear arms, sometimes on the sly. They had previously pooh-poohed the idea that it could be thus abused.

nra supported it. the law provides for an appeal process if a vet is declared incompetent. many say that the appeal process has no funding and there are no appeals. nra accepted the law with this provision, and they’ve complained repeatedly about the appeals process.

bear in mind that the original brady bill was much worse than what was passed. they wanted to keep transaction records and do some other stuff. the bill is a lesser evil. no, the nra is not perfect. it was run by moses, not jesus. but it remains the most effective tool we have, and it does respond to criticism from shooters. sometimes the response is, ‘this is the best we could get,’ and some people take issue with that.
