(CNN) -- Whenever President Obama has traveled overseas and offered pointed and direct assessments of the United States, some of them critical, Republicans have ripped him for criticizing America, saying a president should always defend the United States.
So I want to hear the explanation by these so-called patriots of their giddy behavior over the United States losing the 2016 Olympic Games.
Yes, the United States. The bid that was rejected Friday by the International Olympic Committee was not a Chicago, Illinois, bid. It was the official bid submitted by the United States Olympic Committee and was representative of the nation. Tokyo's bid was that of Japan; Madrid's was that of Spain; and Rio de Janeiro's was that of Brazil.
Republicans want to spin the decision as a massive loss by President Obama and the Democrats who have always controlled Chicago politics.
"Hahahahaha," wrote Erick Erickson on the conservative "RedState" blog, "I thought the world would love us more now that Bush was gone."

From the beginning, Mayor Daley steered the Olympics to the South Side. The centerpiece Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Center, and other facilities were concentrated in Washington Park, which borders the East Englewood neighborhood. East Englewood has vast tracts of vacant land memorializing the neighborhoods collapse. Landlords burned many of their own buildings when property values dropped, and other buildings fell to a city policy of bulldozing vacant structures.
Its no accident Daley sited the Olympics in that place. Chicago has enjoyed a sustained renaissance since the 1980s, but Englewood has been one of the holdouts. After half a century of decline, Englewood had just begun to see stirrings of life early this decade, but then the real estate market collapsed.
These people had forgotten, of course, what the Olympics were for: to revitalize ailing neighborhoods on the South Side.
Defeat? Quite the contrary. Saddling the taxpayers with yet another expensive boondogglewhile lining the pockets of corrupt politiciansnow that would have been a defeat.
I like you point! Chicago was a finalist in the Bush Administration. It was a loser in the Obama Administration.
Who turned up the 0bama FlavorAid drip on Roland Martin’s IV line?
Give him some more stimulus money so he’ll STFU.
Mr. Martin should have taken a Midol before typing this happy-crappy.
OBAMA (THAT BUMBLIN' CLOWN)
Tune: "Chicago (That Toddlin' Town)"
Obama, Obama, that bumblin' clown
Obama, Obama, he will fumble around--and flub it
Bet your teleprompter he'll lose the games for Chicago, Chicago
So bad that Oprah Winfrey will have to frown
Olympics are slim picks, when Barry's your shill
You do things like lose out to Brazil
He had the task, Chicago to sell
I had to laugh, he came with Michelle
O Chicago, Obama let you down!
Obama, Obama, that bumblin' clown
Obama, Obama, he'll fumble around--and flub it
Bet your teleprompter he'll lose the games for Chicago, Chicago
So bad that Oprah Winfrey will have to frown
Olympics are slim picks, when Barry's your shill
You do things like losing out to Brazil--still
He had the task, Chicago to sell
I had to laugh when he came with Michelle
O Chicago, Obama--Obama sure let you down!
Memo to Roland: at least half of Chicago didn’t want the freaking thing either. And you can’t tell me that it was just Chicago Republicans that did not want the Olympics. There aren’t enough Pubbies in Chicago.
I’m sorry. Were these games about the United States? Last I checked his speech was about how these games would be a triumph for himself.
Here’s the difference to liberal losers smarting over this embarrassment. We aren’t cheering for him to lose in Afghanistan. That actually is a US interest and a deadly serious one. Obama’s ego? Not so much a US or American interest. When the ego gets smacked down by the very people he’s pandered to at US expense, we laugh. So, laughter will continue unabated.
The original with the (here on the lower right, colorized) French guy watching occupiers take over his homeland is the first picture that ever made me cry.
Great, meaningful photoshopping, Tawiskaro!

No brainer. He's an Obama supporting donkey. He's ignorant.
i can cheer for American athletes regardless of where they’re at.
What is it with inept Dem Presidents obsession over the Olypics? (Carter as well as Obama!)

I don’t celebrate king obuma’s defeat, I celebrate his exposure as a simpering empty suit. The world can see what this wimp is. Oh, I forgot, he has an army as big as and as well funded as the US military. Where is it, punk? Send out your fat welfare momma division to make the IOC reverse the decision.
Oops, fat welfafre momma division is busy drinking beer and watching big screen TV. “Where’s MY money and free gas, obama??”
Do not be surprised if Obama boycotts these Olympics in protest, just as Carter did.
Anything that makes CNN cry like this pleases me.
Hey dumazz, get back to us when you can explain Code Pink and other lefty traitors rooting for America to LOSE something that really matters, like the War On Terror. Your Dear Leader is STILL ignoring Afghanistan and our troops dying there. I don’t say this lightly, but I’m saying it now-go to hell.
For those who are curious about CNN’s bias, I can settle that point. I wrote a clean, respectful post on why I celebrated Obama’s personal defeat (USOC is a private non-profit, it is not the United States as a country). CNN did not allow my post to go up. I guess their network is only for pro-Obama cheerleading, and they haven’t had anyone respond to that article who favors the socialist’s policies. Their “Sound Off” section still says “No comments yet.”
I don’t see the GOP celebrating America’s defeat. We are simply pointing out how Obama failed America.
